Just watched the first 2 episodes of Allison & Lillia, and it's looking good so far. I really dig the pre-WW2 visual style -- reminds me of Full Metal Alchemist and Crimson Skies -- and the story seems headed straight toward high adventure and plane chases, which is always a good thing in my book. The soundtrack's meh, though. So far so good.
Next up: Real Drive and Monochrome Factor. Any of you guys seen those? Are they worth bothering?
(gotta finish my Evangelion DVDs, too, and start watching the Scrapped Princess box set I picked up at the Mang'azur anime con last week -- so many things to do, so little time...)

Yeah i really wanna see it. I hope i doesn't take anything away from the original movie and series though, i love it like a brother.

Monochrome Factor I've not seen but from some of the stuff that got linked in my browsings of /a/ there seems to an overall yaoi vibe to it.

Just watched Kamen no Maid Guy 1 & 2 and thought it was pretty good. I quite like the light hearted fan servicey nature of the show (the constant breast squeezage and the like doesn't seem to impose as much as it did in Rosario to Vampire).
I just found it truly bizarre that here is a huge giant of a man with some serious skills
maths whizz, ability to interface with machines via USB
dressed in a nice pinny and serving tea!
Hopefully the coming episodes will be just as good.

Naruto SD film - Fights weren't as good as the previous films but the story was better and ending had similar theme to getting Nico Robin back during CP9 bit at th end and im always sucker for that type of story, also helps there was alot less stupid kiddy crap that went hand in hand with young naruto films and the bit after the credits is excellent,
i just loved how he totaly misunderstood what she said... haha it would be great if they paired up. Also it contained what i think is the only case of Naruto going all Bishi on us.... for about 2 secs which was really
, he should try that on Sakura. And im sure the kid that used fire and water was Hayate VA
now for eva1.1, macross ep4 and crap load of unwatched new shows.

Love the ending song by Yoshiki Fukuyama called Wakugai!. He did all the Macross 7 songs.

right then:
Maid Guy 03 - another amusing ep, Maid Guys's abilities get crazier and crazier
Kurenai 04 - another brilliant ep, some nice development, what learning abit about Shinkuro's past and the deal with his crazy arm:
jesus terrorists bombing an airport then kidnapping all the kid survivors, also revealed his relationship with the glasses girl whos name i cant remember
i thought they may have gone abit supernatural on us with his arm being possessed or some ****, after the way it was behaving in the first couple eps, but still being able to produce some bone blade from your elbow on command is pretty crazy, especially with the bullet deflection he was pulling
Allison and Lillia 04:
seemed abit odd the way the it just ended, for some reason i thought the entire series was gonna be their adventure to find this treasure through the war torn countries, nice bit of dogfighting again tho. looks like it really is gonna be leaning more down the kino path with what seems like arcs fairly irrelevant of each other but with the common character cast each telling its own little story
Code Geass R2 04:
as i suspected he tricked rolo into joining him, and aiding in the freeing of the prisoners and in the process got himself got the new knightmare, looks like were gonna be forced to put up with more suzaku screen time with him returning to the schoo,l which is just stupid imo, its not as if suzaku doesn't know who he is anymore, im expecting more hax stupidity in much the same vane as spinzaku, which is a same as its been top notch so far
and in other news ive been playing some JUMP Ultimate Stars lately, its not bad considering its a blatant cash in, its gets bonus points for having Gintoki and Kagura as playable characters, it never gets old mowing down opponents on Gin's scooter
ive also been listening to far too many touhou remix/arrange albums of late

Macross Frontier 4 was lovely as per usual. I liked the fact that
Ranka didn't win. I thought it would have been a bit cheesy if she had
. Nice little fight in there as well.
edit: Geass R2 ep 4 was pretty awesome too
Nice to see Ougi surviving and even Villetta sighing in reliefLelouch at his devious, scheming best plus the ridiculousness of it all. It's just brilliantly entertaining, like the first season was, at its best.

Just watched the first of the Rebuild of Eva films, man they really have done a fine job, all the animation and art is looking brilliant, it looks thoroughly modern whilst maintaining that originals style, i only watched the dvd rip aswell, its gonna look gorgeous when its released in HD
Music and VA was great, although i thought the main eva theme was abit subdued during the battle scenes, when it really should have been going full pelt like the original, directing was great as well, it flowed like a proper film should, unlike the originals movie adaptations that were basically badly cut 90min recap eps, and they managed to greatly cut down the amount of scenes of shinji whining whilst still maintaining that he's a pussy
was also quite astounded by the amount of new material in there, they really went to town beefing up certain sections, especially the Ramiel battle, he's no mere floating cube anymore
also i may have misread it, or the subs may have had a mistake but isnt sachiel meant to be the 3rd angel not the 4th?
after watching that ive got an urge to break out the boxset and rewatch the seriesLast edited by Orka; 28-04-2008, 19:04.

I should play catch up. Code R2 has been fantastic and it really does make me wonder when the pace will let up.
As soon as I heared filler again for naruto I stopped watching, but then again the anime hasnt been all that great vs the manga anymore. Currently working my way though Seto No and im looking to by Byoken no (bleh cant remember the name...) on blu-ray, dont care if its got no subs ill be fluent in the language before the film looses its amazing visual quality.

Macross 04 -- Still great, and the CG's lush as ever, even though I'm not certain I'm a big fan of certain comic relief elements (unsure about that zentradi Laharl lookalike -- the gay dude may be fun in a Leeron kind of way). Also, I probably sound like a broken record here, but put Yoko Kanno in control of a show's soundtrack and it becomes something else entirely. "Ace" only begins to describe that spanish/bluesy-sounding guitar piece near the beginning of the fight (also used in the post-credits preview).
EDIT: Allison & Lillia ep. 4 -- well, I certainly didn't expect
them to find the treasure right away. I thought they were up for a full 26 episodes of that, with plenty of stunts to perform, traps to avoid, pulp supervillains to outwit and other general-purpose highjinks. Still, it'd seem the series isn't over, so we'll see how it develops.
Also, did I mention how I *love* guns-heavy dogfights and improbable, Crimson Skies-ish planes?Last edited by Wild_Cat; 28-04-2008, 20:22.

Toshokan Sensou ep 2-3 - Once again loving it. It takes a certain suspension of disbelief to enjoy but that hasn't been a problem for me. That aside there really has been little for me to complain about. Definitely up there with the likes of Kurenai for me. I think the only thing that could make it better for me is the development of the romance threads. Visually it still looks excellent and I like all the characters I've come across so far. I'm loving the OP and ED too, particularly the latter. I think a few of the comparisons have been fairly close to the mark and on a slightly superficial level it gives me some Lovely Complex vibes. The only shame is it's set for a short episode run. I hope there's enough material for future seasons. Such is my love for it that I'm even tempted to pick up the R2 DVDs for it which generally only happens with one show per season (if that).

Eva 1.01 was pretty good, looking forward to rest. Macross F ep4 and CGr2 ep4 both ace, especially r2.
zSZS ep12 - really good episode, the 1st story had them doing a crap ton of fan service(at NEET's soft landing...) and part2 with the counter current could be the best half story this season as i know i've done some those things
(also a kickass mention for Whistle! and Setsuna's "I'am GUNDAM")
