Heh. I think I learnt about that Fate/Stay Night spoiler around the time I was watching those set of episodes. I can't remember how I found it, but I do remember guessing which heroes and stuff were depicted by which characters. I doubt I'd have guessed that one correctly at the time but as you said certainly makes sense

I haven't seen Marimite either. But I was waiting for the OVA episodes to be released before starting and then I heard there was another season so I thought I might as well wait till the end of that to start watching it.

I think I really need to make a concerted effort to get through some of the classics that I haven't seen yet during the summer.

edit: Also should say a big thank you to Jeff and Orka for introducing me to the myanimelist site. It's certainly made it easier for me to keep track of stuff I'm watching and as a result I've actually started to work my way through some older shows that I'd left hanging. Certainly beats my old method of having it all written down in a txt file.

        Maria-sama Ga Miteru.

From what I understand, all girls school randomness with some slightly yuri aspects. I figuring Strawberry Panic.

Being the impatient person I am, I watched the raw of the first episode of Kaiba. Godamn, I wish I knew what the hell was going on. Visually and musically though it looks amazing but very very random. Definitely want more of this.

Zapp, feel free to add me and Orka to your list so we can greedily browse your list and see all your guilty anime secrets. Also, if you're not on a mac, you may wish to look on their forum for the auto-updater to save yourself the hassle of updating each series everytime.

Edit: (Think there'll be a time where I make a post without editing? <_< ) Just saw the screens for kurenai ep 2. Yeah...I can certainly see the pedo vibe now. I guess it'll depend on the context of it and whether they focus on that aspect.

Oh man in all my fanboying over some comments regarding Toshokan Sensou I'd almost forgotten about Kaiba. Looking forward to that one.

Yeah, I use that auto-updater thing currently. It's a bit finicky at times with the file names but it has certainly made things more convenient for me. You probably won't find many guilty anime secrets... yet as I've not gotten round to adding all the shows I have lying around somewhere and those that I have seen but am too ashamed to put on my list

Marimite is half bad from what i remember, a damn site better than strawberry panic that your comparing it with, and all this talk of marimte has just reminded me i need to watch the OVA ready for the next series

as for MyAnimeList, i think its a brilliant little site, and the auto-updater just makes things better, might take abit of effort to get it started but once youve got everything in, its invaluable, also the stats it produces based on how much youve seen etc is both interesting and worrying when it gets to my sort of level: 269 completed, 310 total entries, 76.6 days spent watching the stuff

Just watched the first episode of Soul Eater. I loved it, love the art style reminds a bit of Gurren Lagaan and some nice choreographed fight scenes.

Allison to Lillia ep 1 - I thought that was very nice. It looked lovely in places (like when they were by the lake), I enjoyed the music and even the character designs which I wasn't especially fond of way back I thought were fine. It was mainly setting up the world and characters but with the adventure kicking in towards the end. Maybe it's the cars and the clothes and stuff but it almost feels like I'm watching Indiana Jones: the anime version, with all that it entails, very Tin-Tin ish as well. I was looking forward to it and well the first episode has matched my expectations. It's been a while since I've seen a adventure/journey type of anime so this should fit the bill nicely. No one terribly annoying in the first episode though I could see how some might find Allison to be like that. Good stuff overalll. If there is one thing it's that reading some spoilers of bits they missed from the novels, they don't quite get the animosity there between the two sides. Oh well I suppose that is part and parcel of any adaptation.

                    more new season impressions:

Soul Eater: loved the first ep, very nice animation, whith a cool art style that bit different from the norm, had some great action scenes, and the little bits between the shinigami and her dad were rather amusing, seemed very FLCL'ish, very similar animation styles, art styles and that over the top silly action that makes FLCL, hoping it turns out to be a good one, and not just some generic shounen with pretty art, thankfully Bones is in charge so it should turn out the former

Alison to Lillia: Another nice opening ep, some nice art, characters and overall feel, you can defiantly tell its from the guy behind kino, he seems to have some obsession with old school Motorbikes and prop planes, was defiantly getting that Indiana Jones vibe you mentioned Zap, another promising series

                    Comment

Allison to Lillia: Quite good. Animation and music's nice although the guy's voice is very iffy. My only real complaint about it is it seems very...cheerful. I know they're at peace and all but they just sem remarkabley happy about everything they're doing. I like it though.

Druaga ep 2: More like the alternate version of ep1 but nrgh. It's interesting but some of the stuff the main guy does just strikes me as nonsensical. Like at the end,

just standing there next to the corpse of the king with a knife in it? Durr, run maybe?

                      Comment

Druaga ep 2 - That was surprising. I didn't think I'd like it as much if/when they switched to a more serious tone but... I did. The bit at the end as Jeff said was a bit silly, a bit of a poor ending to what was otherwise a nice episode. I'm getting into it though which is a plus. I can see myself sticking with this till the end unless something horrible happens within the next couple of episodes.

Masked Maid Guy ep1: Fan service show number 3. Not too bad really. Some of the stuff Kogarshi pulls off is just silly but some of it is pretty amusing. Could be a fairly good comedy series with any luck.

Continuing on from the last one, I just had to download Banner of the Stars. Marvellous stuff. This time round the space tactics were a lot more believable which really helped. The interactions of some of the characters was also top-notch most noticabley with the Commander-in-chief constantly nagging his Chief of Staff about which one. We really need more stuff of this quality.

Edit: Wagaya no Oinari-sama ep 1: Hmmm. I'd heard this was going to be like a more religion based Spice and Wolf(i.e with temples and miko stuff) but it's not really that at all. The story seems to be quite interesting but I find some of the non-serious stuff annoying like some of the more whimsical music and Nobooru's incessant whining. Interesting enough to keep watching though.

Also, I'd give my right arm for a decent Soul Eater subber. AEN is suppossedly rubbish, LWF has grammar issues and Rumbel suffers from audio sync problems which I can't stop noticing! <_<

i finally watched some new stuff.

Soul eater is easily the best so far, got the Rumbel avi and didnt notice any really obvious sync issues. apparently this was the uncut one, although there was nothing especially ero about it. really enjoyed it though, nice mix of humour and action. and the breif glimpses of the other characters looked cool too.

Bus gamer. from the descriptions i read i expected this to be a bit more intellectual. perhaps some kind of death note style double dealings business type thing. but the first two episodes are just guys beating each other up... which is still reasonably good.

kanokan i enjoyed more than i probably should. quite funny and rather pervy. if theres nothing else funnier i might stick with it for a while.

Vampire Knight wasnt that great from the first episode, but there seems to be a few hints of something more interesting behind it all. i'm willing to give it a few episodes and see what happens.

still got kamen no maid guy, allison and lillia, zettai karen children to watch. plus the new code geass, but i never saw the first series, so i might just skip it anyway. will it make any sense?

Wagaya no Oinari-sama: not a bad first ep, it does have abit of a Spice n Wolf feel, but like jeff says they are very much different, again like jeff says the more serious bits about the JP religious stuff and that was good but they were lessened abit by some poorly timed light hearted moments, could make for an interesting series if they nail that ratio between the more serious stuff and the more light hearted stuff along with the timing, and it doesn't develop into one of those generic "mysterious/alien/etc character X suddenly enters normal Character Y's life, now both must live together blah blah blah"

as for soul eater subs i re-watched it earlier using Rumbles Uncut mkv, didn't notice any sync issues (you got their cut release?), also i didn't notice anything different in the uncut apart from a few comments from shinigami during the break and at the end, maybe the differences will become more apparent in later eps *shrugs*

You could probably get away with not watching the first series perhaps since they'll no doubt recap most of the major events but like a lot of things, it'll probably better going into the new series having watched the previous one.

Orka: It was the uncut hd version I watched. It's very odd. Occasionally it'll be fine but most of the time the audio finished a second, maybe half a second before the characters mouth/thing that caused the noise stops. It's not a big thing but small things like that irritate me and the more I try to ignore it, the more I pay attention to it.
