Yeah, im tempted to download it but it could another incest one... forgotten the name of that other show maybe last year that had incest in it(much older bother meets some one who he attacted to, only to find out its his estranged little sister), made it hard to watch in the end.

I've seen it, enjoyed it and shall be sticking with it for the time being. Decent production values, enjoyable first episode with a slice of life feel to it. It basically sounds similar to what I have heard of Chobits(not seen that), Choco is a very innocent little girl who doesn't know much about how the world works(though she has that guide book which gives out questionable tips) and has to rely on her "brother" to teach her. From what manga readers have said there's no blood relation(I think) but she's his legitimate sister(ep1 I guess would kind of explain how this is possible) and the guy doesn't take a romantic interest in her(it's the other way round), she IIRC develops a bit of a crush on him. He himself is already interested in that girl working in the shop that we briefly see during ep 1.
The one he originally buys that jewelry for.
Like I said, I thought the first episode was pretty good, I'm concerned about some of the content but if it gets a bit much further down the line then I'll drop it. The situation in a way also reminds of the setup in Onegai Twins. In fact she's very much like that green haired twin from that show(Karen was it?).

Does this ring a bell?
I'm not even sure why I bought these DVDs, it sounds straight up perverse.

Lol, thanks for reminding me.. from what i remember he had a pair of her pants for the act i think. It does proper creepy when both of the could have normal relationship with other people during the show, and don't this unless you want it spoiled but those that will never watch it
it's heavly implied(although you don't see it) that they have sex..

Ep 3 of Zero No Tsukaima, liking the series so far, interesting characters, interesting (if slightly uncomfortable for me for some reason) concept. Most excited about this show because there's so much room for growth.
That said, we're at ep 3, there's not really been much progress in the main plot, and it's only a 13 ep series. Needs to get moving soon IMO, but all the same, good stuff.
Another anime in HD, we need more of this!

Tbh I don't think it's that much of a problem, particularly if there are future seasons of the show to carry on the story. Suzumiya Haruhi for example didn't exactly cover that much during its 14 episode run. Zero is also based on some novels(currently 8 volumes out) so there's no way they're going to be able to cover everything and I hear they are looking to cover up to the end of volume 3 of the novels. Have yet to see the episode myself since I'm waiting on Froth-Bite's version as I don't really like KuroNeko, so maybe I might have the same thoughts after.
Kasismasi Girl Meets Girl - finally got round to watching the last few episodes since Doremi and KnKF finished subbing it(about a month or two ago I believe).
Disappointed with the ending, mainly because I wanted Tomari to "win". Plus the last episode was just downright strange, so much time was spent on Tomari-Hazumu and then it was like a couple of minutes on Yasuna-Hazumu. I didn't really like Yasuna and I get the feeling that Hazumu wanted to be with her in the end to help cure her, though I guess he did have a crush on her beforehand. The last few seconds though is strange as it leaves it open for a totally different ending and apparently there is an episode 13 to be released as part of the DVDs. If this is true I hope it gives a Tomari-Hazumu pairing. Decent series overall, nothing spectacular but I enjoyed it all the same.
Saiunkoku Monogatari - I'll keep pimping this in the hopes that someone else will give it a go as it's really rather good. The last few episodes there's been some intriguing developments, very much like Twelve Kingdoms in that there's a faction that's not happy with the current ruler and they're trying all sorts to get their own puppet ruler in place. It's not quite as serious as Twelve Kingdoms, there's certainly be alot more lighthearted moments and there's more focus on the romantic relationship between some of the main characters. I guess the only thing that might put people off is the abundance of bishounens, but other than looking pretty they don't seem to have taken that much of an interest in each other.

ZnT ep3 ? good stuff, ep3 cemented it as must watch for me I quite disappointed when it ended, wanted it to keep going, Saito is a great character he sarcastic comments are on a level of Kyon?s,
I think my fav quote this time was when there on the horse Louise asks where are you holding? to which Saito responds ?sorry it was flat, thought it was your stomach?, great stuffalso Louise stutter when she get really irritated is super cute
Girl meets Girl ? finished watching them last week I think,
didn?t like the ending or Yasuna (the batty bitch), I was routing for Tomari all the way who only lost out by not having a mental disease.
Poor Sisters story ep1 ? mildly entertaining, but way to angst weeping for one another making very skin crawlingly campy at the end, gonna download ep2,3 and decide if it worth watching being it only 10eps long.

They are basically Bleach Society though, and their Bleach releases were quite poor a while back... dunno if they've improved.

I actually like the stuff K-F do for One Piece. I think it looks quality and shows that they take great pride in it, especially the personalised special move styling. Shows that they generally put a lot of effort into the whole thing. Plus it also helps that their subs of the actual dialogue are very well edited, timed, typesetted and checked. IMO they are one of the top tier subbing groups for overall quality. There's usually few if any errors in their subs. I guess that is my main complaint with KuroNeko's, at least it was the last time I watched one of their releases. I don't mind the lack of flashiness and special effects, probably the most important thing to me is what the actual subs are like. I haven't checked their recent ones, maybe they've improved. Might well do if Froth-Bite take a while releasing Zero like they did with Paradise Kiss.

Personal preference of course. Certainly not critising the quality of KF's subs, you can tell from their subs how much they love the show (they did a v2 of ep 198 this week just to fix some typos, for example. No difference in file name bar the CRC).
I'm just personally much more impressed with decent ASS-based effects, karaoke etc. Some of the karaoke on KF's stuff looks madly out of place IMO (I'm assuming Premier/AE, since I don't think you can do most of what they do with ASS, and certainly not SSA).
Will check out the Froth-Byte release though, as the KN version of ep 3 has some quite bad macroblocking (possibly a fault in the raw though).
Suppose it's all besides the point, same show at the end of the day!Last edited by sj33; 21-07-2006, 15:29.

I get what you're saying but for example look at some of the karaoke they do. Sure some of it is overblown but take that last karaoke with the really soft song. I thought the effect there was gorgeous and really fit with the animation in the background(I'm talking the ED song before this new one with the glowing light/dust thingy). Personally I think it's a nice touch, especially as I said with some of the special moves e.g. Enel's. Anyway best leave it at that, as I don't think we're going to agree and I don't really want to clutter up the thread with this kind of stuff. And yeah it's definitely After Effects or something similar, most fansubbers tend to use AE I believe, since there's no way you could do some of that with ASS.
As for Froth-Bite's encode quality I can't really say. There doesn't seem to be anything immediately wrong with it but then I'm not exactly the best judge of such things. It certainly looks pretty decent to me, I haven't noticed any blocking or anything. I guess the only downside is they don't do the HD stuff but I'm not too bothered, sure I'd love it but not enough to switch groups.

As far as I know (haven't spoken to the core members of K-F in a while) only 3 op/ed have ever used AFX, the rest are rendered using scripting. As for the main subs and the special move effects, I think it is the most apt and professional use of AFX ever used in anime, professional or fansubbed. The effects nearly always suit the moves perfectly and are never obtrusive. Though I can understand why you may not enjoy them as they can grate depending on the person watching.
Don't really want to get into flaming groups as zapp$ter will no doubt tell you, I do that enough anyway... just going to point out that F-B staff has changed a lot, and they are not the group they once were. IMO they are poor.

When I brought the subject up, I didn't expect it to go this far!
Anyway, watched NHK today - wasn't planning to watch it, but figured I'd catch it before a backlog of eps builds up.
This is where I'd usually say I enjoyed a show, but I don't think your supposed to 'enjoy' it, it's just not that type of show.
I can almost sympathise with the guy in that I think many people go through a sort of 'stage' where they feel they just really don't like the outside world, people etc, and shut themselves in. Most people just grow out of it, part of growing up, and look back wondering what the heck they were thinking. Presumably there are people like this guy who go the other way.
To me it's a bit of a sad position to be in, because it's not even hard to end up in that situation - it is hard to actually stay that way though, to not miss social contact, freedom and the other things the outside world offers... it takes a really distressed mind to actually stay that way I reckon.
Am interested to see where they take this one.

I sort of agree with you on NHK, spot on for the most part. Though for me there were some little bits that I enjoyed in the first episode such as
Satou's perverted thoughts on Misaki and then his physical reaction afterwards cracked me up.
It's certainly different at this stage, and there's been nothing to put me off the show per se. So I'll definitely be sticking with this through to the end barring any exceptionally poor scenes/content that doesn't sit right with me.
Saiunkoku Monogatari - I guess you could say I lied as there's some stuff between some of the guys in the show. Still the scene at the end of episode 7 more than made up for it and had me grinning like a loon during it. Ep 7 sees the end of the first story arc and it's definitely not as clear cut as it seemed at the end of ep6. I thought I had the situation figured out but there were a couple of twists in 7 and we also see the first fantasy elements pop up. Very good stuff so far. So much so that I'm considering the DVDs but at the moment Honey and Clover season 2 takes priority in that department.
Binbou Shimai Monogatari ep 1 - what can I say? Most disappointing show I've seen so far. I had some hopes for it but some of the stuff in ep1 got on my nerves. It wasn't so much the sappiness or the overly dramatic nature of some of it, more the stupidity of the older sister. To the point where I almost uttered a couple of expletives whilst watching. I hear she gets up to more antics in the coming episodes and if they are on the level of the first episode then I'm gonna drop the show. I'll stick with a for a few more episodes though in the hope that it gets better or that I get some enjoyment out of it.
Chevalier ep 1 - I thought the first half of the episode was quite slow and boring but as Fuddle mentioned a few pages back the rest of the episode particular the end of it was far more interesting. Some great animation in there too.
I thought that talking skeleton at the end was pretty creepy.
I liked it enough to stick with it. Subs from AnY were great IMO and there's a HDTV for those who want it(it's version I went for). Anyone who's interested in more mature animes with less moe and more realistic character designs would do well to check it out. If I'm not mistaken it will be replacing Ergo Proxy in it's timeslot on the Wowow channel. I think this was a special screening of the first episode. The series starts properly sometime in August.
Just about caught up with most of the recent anime I had to watch(still need to catch up on Good Witch of the West). Now it's time to get cracking on some of the older stuff such as Maria sama, Gankutsuou, Scrapped Princess and some more that I'm forgetting.
