well i finished gundam seed and it was very good

but as stated by some chaps here i think i liked Destiny better because i managed to catch the 50 part series

i reckon if i had the 50 parter of Seed it might be different

but i still say that Destiny is animated much better than Seed

some annoying flaws in the movies, especially when Kira kills Athrun's friend (Nicole) and you see athrun crying and suddenly it switches to another battle where the Aegis lands ontop of Strike only for Athrun to use the self distruct to try and kill Kira

understand why Murrue Ramius rates Mu La Flaga so high now in Destiny as it explains that story since she fell in love with him and a previous Gundam pilot prior to him

also the story behind Andrew Waltfeld battle with Kira (LaGOWE vs Strike) was interesting

shame i didnt watch them in order as it would have appreciated Destiny more when i watched it

the reason why i like Destiny so much is thats its my first foray into Gundam and i liked how it started with 3 members of Phantom Pain steal the 3 advanced gundams and it does let up from that moment

but i'm going to try and get the seed series and watch it as it should have been watched

all that happened in the space of 5 minutes and i reckon in the series that might have been about 2-4 episodes

Your problem can easily be sorted by watching the full 50eps, with making Kira one make defense of the archangel more thrilling as he's the underdog and the stuff you said about sounds like your missing some action in between Nicoles death and the Strike/Aegis showdown. From what i remember Athrun kills newbie pilot of the skygrasper (Kira friend and Miriallia boyfriend) which fuels the blood of both pilots for the showdown where Athrun 'kills' Kira (could have happened during the same fight, can't remember).

I think you're right, may have happened during the same battle. But yeah it was due to a lot of bad feelings on both sides because of the deaths. As Tobal said, it's easily rectified watching the full series.

The reason I preferred SEED is because I watched it first and it had more likeable characters to me. I really disliked Shinn and felt he could have done with a couple of beatings, came across as oh so annoying to me. Watching it first made Destiny feel very samey. I'm sure I've mentioned it before but Destiny's opening was virtually a carbon copy of SEED's only the sides were switched so it felt like I'd seen it all before and of course the inclusion of Shinn made it less enjoyable. I much preferred Kira in the role as the defender of the lone ship 'cos he was infinitely more likeable IMO. The opening of destiny you mentioned is as mentioned virtually a carbon copy of SEED. SEED's opening: a couple of high tech gundams are stolen, leaving just a skeleton crew to defend themselves as they try to get help whilst unravelling plot behind the war etc.... Sound familiar? The rest of the story isn't really too dissimilar either.

As for the animation, I'd bloody well hope so. It should have been a given that it was better because it came out later and had more or less the same team working on it and same budget(perhaps higher due to the success of SEED?).

              but (on a childish level)

Seed doesnt have the strike freedom, destiny or Legend

and the archangel in Destiny has the tanhauser

so there, somebody is sorting me out with the series of seed (thanks) so i will watch them shortly

just watched the entire Champloo again - twice since it arrived

I can certainly understand where you're coming from mate. Just explaining my point of view that's all. Not trying to rubbish your opinion or anything. You like Destiny more at this moment in time and I respect that.

On an even more childish level, I think I preferred the Aegis out of all the gundam designs in SEED. Can't remember the name of the one I liked from destiny but it was either the new one Athrun got or the new one Kira had. Justice?

actually looking forward to getting the whole seed series to watch

Kira had freedom and then strike freedom

i think Athrun got Justice in seed and ended up with infinate justice in Destiny

tbh Rau Le Creuset gundam in seed (Providence) was just an early version of strike freedom with all the multiple weapon pod thingies and it was pretty solid

                  **edit**
even though the special edition of seed is cut the dvd boxed set comes with a soundtrack cd - making it worthwhile

So it's not just coming from Light's mouth, the other guy also said it, and from what she was hearing it's not unheard of for him to be helping out on other cases too.

I didn't forget, I just didn't think it was enough evidence and I rewatched both of those episodes together to have another look. The cases he helped on before could have been any old thing, this is a lot more serious. Okay she might not think he's evil but he could easily have been showing off to impress a laydee and wasting her time.

Plus the way he starts talking to her in that episode about how he thinks Kira can control people shows her that he's arriving at similar conclusions and is possibly at a similar skill level to her i.e. he says it first and she only nods her head in agreement. I reckon if he had asked her what she thought about the case then she might have been more suspicious. So I can see why she might trust that he is on the investigation. She's not exactly stupid herself, but I can see how she would fall into Light's trap. IMO they did a good job of showing how clever he was.

edit: also it's not like she fell into the trap that easily. After all she fooled him first by giving him a fake name.

I think the fact that she gave the fake name at first and then afterwards was completely fine about showing her ID makes it worse. The most I can accept is that his creepiness was for our benefit because we know what he was planning and from her POV he appeared normal (like when he was really cheerful right after they left the police station). And I can possibly accept that it was her grief and desperation for an answer added to someone agreeing with her theories that made her gullible enough to believe him. I still can't accept it 100% though, because there's no way someone really on the case would have been so eager to recruit a stranger on the street like that and she should have seen through that. It's not a show-stopper for me but it's why that episode is my least favourite of them all so far. I don't want to see everyone trusting this kid so much.

Must comment on something else so this post isn't so full of spoilers.

Rewatched the first episode of Asatte no Houkou and take back my original comment of it being nothing special. It wasn't all Death Note's I was watching so I think it did merge into some other stuff. The characters are likable, except Shoko but I'm sure you're not meant to like her. I'm interested in seeing how everyone reacts to the change, will it be a realistic reaction or a fantasy one? Where they're suprised but kind of accept it after 5 minutes. Oh and Hiro looks almost exactly like the guy from Air!

Nana seen episodes 1-4 so far and think it's great! I wouldn't say it was a girly show at all, it could be about guys just as easily. I was glad to see that the "rock" Nana was as nice as she was as these characters tend to get an unfriendly, moody stereotype on TV. I read that apart from the 1st episode where the 2 Nanas meet the anime is following the manga by telling their back stories first. I'd rather have seen a bit more of the present first because then you care more when you see a flashback but it's still a great show and episode 5 isn't downloading fast enough! I also like the more studenty image of the characters drinking and having sex, this behaviour seems non-existant in other shows based on characters this age. Maybe I've been watching the wrong shows

Kanon eps 1-4. I deleted the rest before it finished downloading, the story is interesting but it's too girly for me. I think girly is the right word, it's that most of the female characters are pretty stupid and the guy is too whiney. I might regret having deleted them if I run out of other things to watch but my ex housemate has them all I think so I'll get them off her.

Air episode 1. The first episode was all I needed to see this wasn't for me, what I didn't like about Kanon was worse with this and this one didn't seem to have an interesting story either. Are these what you call Harem anime?

Otome wa Boku ni Koi****eru episode 1 - Idea of boy having to pretend to be a girl at school is good fun, not really expecting any plot, just a light hearted watch. Seems only anime/manga can get away with boys making prettier girls than girls do. Would like to see some of us pulling that off

Ouran High School Host Club episode 1 - Why do girls pay to have tea with these guys? It makes no sense! Was a big suprise to find out the truth about the main character and because of that I'm a bit more interested. Not in a big hurry to see the rest of this one but it's not struck off the list yet.

Ai****eruze Baby - episode 1. Another one that was, maybe not girly but too nice. Think I should stick to some hardened dramas. So far I've mostly been downloading whatever I see the title of, just to see what I like.

YiGiOh 1st season - eps 1 and 2 (I think). I've never seen the episodes that have been on TV so I thought I'd check this out, it's alright, I love the look of Yugi, I have the first 6 episodes that I'll watch before deciding whether to get more.

Naruto - Not new by any means but I've had the fansubs up to episode 50 on my hd for a while now and decided to watch what I have. Currently up to episode 30 where they're doing the Chuuin exams in the forest. It gets pretty samey but there's something about it I like. One thing I would like is for Sakura to actually do something, why is she even training to be a ninja?? I'd love to see what the dubbed versions for TV are like since a lot of this seems pretty violent for western kids! Has it been on TV in the UK at all or just the US? Oh and I hate both the new theme tunes, blegh.

Has anyone seen Texhnolyze? I started to download it based on a description saying it was like Lain but makes more sense. They're also not kidding when they say you're lucky if there's 4 lines of dialogue in the first episode. Only watched episode 1 and found it was in English so it must have been licensed and I feel guilty for getting it now. It's confusing at first and I'll probably need to rewatch it though apparently the plot fleshes out after a few episodes.

Other series I'm grabbing or have yet to watch: Ergo Proxy, Full Metal Alchemist, .hack//ROOTS and Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto (that was a random pick, I have no idea what it's about.

Stick with Naruto, your only at ep 30, it's honestly not even started yet really. Gets much better. Your just reaching the point where is starts to get good.

That said, the anime has been a trainwreck of abysmal filler episodes all year, giving it a very undeserved bad reputation. They better get back to the manga story before they kill it.

As for .hack//ROOTS, I assume you've already seen/played/read the previous .hack stuff? Not really essential to the story, but it's a good idea all the same.
Roots is brill though, much better than Sign which I found a tad underwhelming. The games/mangas/novels are what really got me into .hack, and Sign has no real value without them IMO.

Well I still have 20 eps left to see of Naruto on the hard drive so I won't run out yet. The thought of there being so many episodes is a bit overwhelming though, it's like trying to catch up with Eastenders from the start! Hopefully I'll be able to find the rest, I know it's licensed but I'd rather stop watching it than have to watch it dubbed, it can't be good and I can't imagine they don't cut it.

I've only seen .hack//SIGN, I don't have a PS2 so I can't play the games and don't want to watch the DVDs that come with them on their own. I was curious for more of the series though so I thought I'd check out ROOTS. Haven't read any of the books but ZERO sounds good since I was interested in what happened to Sora after SIGN.

The download is going slowly, currently only got the first episode but if you think I should wait then I will. Or if the first episode is good I might wait till I have some spare cash and buy it on DVD that is if all of it's released.

Don't give up on Ai****eruze Baby and Ouran, dam good shows.

As for Naruto i think your the only person in history to hate the 2nd OP. How can you not love the Haku/Sasuke/Naruto Bridge fight and the results of it, still ranks as one my fav moments of the show. As for Sakura she's pretty useless throughout with odd shining moment here and there(one happens to be in Forest part of the exam) but other than that you woul dhave to wait till the time skip for her to kick some ass. And i think your about 1 or 2eps from the 1st major CGI fight the Ice mirrors with Orochi vs Sasuke with lots of added anime only action to the fight.

yeah the filler is what is turning me off the series, and the fact that the

                            Rasengan

is now used all the time cheapens the move.

The filler stops next season right?

Didn't he say he had helped out on a murder case previously? which is more than any old case to me but I agree it's not on the same scale as the Kira case. Still it shows that he's not just your average highschool teenager.

The creepiness was definitely for the benefit of the viewers and I don't understand how anyone could think otherwise. There's no way that he is stupid enough to be acting like that when he can be so easily noticed (and I probably already know what you're going to say in reply to this ). This strikes me as the same thing that happened with the noose appearing at the end of the episode which you seemed to feel really strongly about before coming round to it i.e. I think you just took the creepy looks he made the wrong way *shrugs*. Personally I thought he dangeld enough carrots in front of her to make her want to join and lose some of her rational thoughts in the process e.g. getting revenge on the person responsible for killing her fiance. But maybe I'm taking the easy way out and just accepting too easily what's in front of me. I'll probably watch the episode again to see if I can add anything more to the argument later (I kind of forgot some of the points I wanted to bring up when writing this longass post) as I should really be getting on with some work . Interesting discussion all the same though. Always nice to see some differing viewpoints.

Rewatched the first episode of Asatte no Houkou and take back my original comment of it being nothing special. Glad to see you coming round to it. Shouko is unlikable in the first episode and I think that's kind of intentional but in subsequent episodes you see a different side to her and I've even grown to like her. You can even come to understand why she acts the way she does especially as we find out more details about her history with Hiro. The reactions to the change are fairly unique and quite realistic IMO, I think you'll like it. The show seems to me to be a bit of both. Some supernatural elements but with I guess you could say more realistic characters. e.g. when you see the situations Karada finds herself in you can see that although she acts mature she's still naive to the ways of the world. So far having seen to the end of ep 3 it still hasn't degenerated into a fanservicey show which is nice and for the most part the slow pace and slice of life feel is still there which is awesome.

Nana seen episodes 1-4 so far and think it's great! I wouldn't say it was a girly show at all, it could be about guys just as easily. It is a girly show though. It's aimed at readers of shoujo manga/watchers of shoujo anime which as the name implies is majorly girls. From what I've heard(since I've not had loads of experience with shoujo stuff) it's more realistic and gritty (I guess) in comparison to other shoujo shows/mangas which is what sets it apart.

Kanon eps 1-4. I deleted the rest before it finished downloading, the story is interesting but it's too girly for me. I don't know if the usage is correct here but this isn't a girly show. The whole thing is based off an h-game which is aimed squarely at guys. I don't get what you mean by the guy being too whiney though. I think he's class. Some of his comments are just superb and he's been pretty decent so far. What I take from that comment is that he whines a lot which isn't really the case IMO and I have to wonder if we watched the same show. There are two versions of it after all The old 2002 one and this new one that started a couple of months back.

Air episode 1. The first episode was all I needed to see this wasn't for me, what I didn't like about Kanon was worse with this and this one didn't seem to have an interesting story either. Are these what you call Harem anime?
In a sense yes. Although I haven't seen Air yet. Harem basically means one guy with loads of girls as potential love interests. Another example would be Shuffle. You also get some reverse harems which is basically one girl, loads of guys and I think an example would be Hana Yori Dango or Ouran Host Club.

Otome wa Boku ni Koi****eru episode 1 - Idea of boy having to pretend to be a girl at school is good fun, not really expecting any plot, just a light hearted watch. LOL. You obviously haven't seen some of the real life pictures that I have. I don't know whether I should be proud of that or be hanging my head in shame

Ouran High School Host Club episode 1 - Why do girls pay to have tea with these guys? It makes no sense! It's just they are all very rich and with very little sense. They like the company of good looking guys who will pander to their needs and accompany them, chat with them etc... Makes sense in context IMO at least.

Bakumatsu is a period piece (I think that's the term I'm looking for) with some

supernatural elements to it as seen at the end of the first ep

. I've not had time to wach past the first episode but I liked what I saw, well enough to make me stick with the show.

I agree with Tobal, stick with Ouran it's a good show overall.

Phew. I think I'm going to lie down now...
