Lucky Star ep17 - Good few laughs, including the parody of
, but for Lucky channel once again stole the show, with the manga/anime store manager turning and man handling of Minoru and Akria. The ending credits are ace to with another Minoru sing-along
Lucky Star ep18 - Some good Konota/Kagami teasing, a weird Kagami Family moment, and some brilliant stuff from the secondary characters stealing the episodes. Lucky Channel was 'meh' this time and the ending credits pretty 'meh' to until the very end
Tokimeki 22-25 end - batch of episodes came out together to finish the show, it somehow manage to dig itself out of the crap hole Aoba dug the show into, last episode went pretty much as i expected it apart from the 'twist' if you can call it that.
Last episode turned out ok, Tsukasa pretty much got shafted and should have won(imo), she had more 'date' moments with Aoba, showed her emotion and has a better history with him other than Sayuri only talent being the school idol. Mina seemed to get over pretty quickly and 'won' in her own way
, leaving Sayuri to win with next to nothing going for herself....
Also been reading the Suzumiya Haruhi novels, got up to book 5 so far and have to say they are really good and reccomend them to any fan. So many of Kyon observations and comments go missing inthe anime i was amazed, and after reading the parts the anime covered i went back and watched noticing quite a few changes(mainly the summer trip, and it was Kyon taking the photos the computer president), and laughed at a few things i missed that could only be know when reading the books and it gave ep1's film a ton of laughs just from reading what they went through to make it. The stuff thats not made it into the anime so far is really good and has me hyped for the new season. Still got book 6-8 readLast edited by Tobal; 13-08-2007, 16:32.

Yay! Another person reading the Haruhi novels! Great stuff and it makes you appreciate how hard it must have been to translate so much of Kyon's thoughts into the actual anime. The best is yet to come though! In particular, book 7 is just amazing.Wish they'd release 10 so it can get translated though.
9 left me wanting moar!
Edit: On a similar novel vein, I hadn't realised how prolific the Shakugan no Shana stuff is. 16 volumes!

This site has all 9 of them or if you're after a permanent version, there's a torrent with the first 8 volumes in pdf format.

Lucky Star 17-18 - enjoyed the Lucky Channel segment in 17 and thankfully they seemed to have dropped the anime tenchou bit from the main show as it was getting kind of old. His appearance in Lucky Channel was good though. Liked the stuff from the new characters in episode 18 particularly that fujoshi character. Getting a bit tired of the Shiraishi EDs too, although I suppose these two had a something a little different to make up for it, the fast forward in ep 17 and the wedding dress at the end in ep 18.
Guess I should get on with Tokimeki now that it's been completed as well as some other shows I need to get through.

I can't believe despite it's praises it's taken me this long to watch the quite frankly awesome, Claymore!!1
Apologies if posted, but on 31st August, a three-hour animated Death Note TV special, Death Note Director's Cut: Complete Ending Edition is scheduled to air on the Nippon Television Network in Japan on August 31, 2007 at 8:03 PM. It will be about Light Yagami and his rival L from the unique vantage point of Ryuk, Light's shinigami. It will contain new footage and dialogue that was not originally in the TV show.
Kuro-Hana have already said they're going to be subbing this - provided Viz don't stick their oar in between now and then.
Is nobody watching History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi? Another great one, IMO like.

Just watched ICE episode 1. It always amuses me to know that there are people in this world who still haven't realized that "all the men died, and only women are left" is just as clichéd a premise for a science-fiction setting (not to mention ten times as cringeworthy) as "evil empire rules the galaxy, rebels fight against it".
It saddens me to no end, however, to know that some of these people are anime scriptwriters -- or that they have jobs at all, for that matter. This pilot episode (and as far as I'm concerned, this whole series, cause I'm definitely not watching any more of that) is one hour of my life that's not coming back.
Some great shows were created out of 1960s, Star Trek TOS rejected episode drafts. Well, I can't name any, but surely there must be. ICE, anyway, isn't one such show. Not only is it built on a tragically flawed premise, it also manages to be crap in just about every other aspect. The seiyuu are sub-par at best (one of the main characters has a bad case of clogged nose; several female characters are voiced by adult males). Animation is way below the standards you'd expect from a pilot episode. The character designs are reminiscent of a poor man's Saint Seiya or Utena. Some of the mecha look like Escaflowne's been left to rust for a couple millenia, while most others have those neo-baroque, CGI-heavy, hopelessly non-functional aesthetics you'd expect to find in some low-budget Gankutsuou ripoff. That a mere 15 minutes after closing VLC, I can't remember any of the music, speaks volumes about it.
And somehow, I can't shake that feeling that most of the character dynamics were lifted straight out of a bad Trinity Blood episode. Which, when you think of it, is no small feat, seeing that Trinity Blood itself was already a (really) ****e version of Trigun, Hellsing and Chrno Crusade, all at once. News flash: 15-minute-speech superpower ignition sequences (mantras, prayers, miscellaneous yet detailed explanations as to how, why and how much of your powers you're going to use) are cool if, and only if, your main character is Alucard. Period. They're not cool with super sentai, they're not cool with talking cat-owning schoolgirls, and they're not cool with priests that turn into vampire-eating trannies. So no, they're not cool either with a one-eyed gunwoman ('cause yeah, the one-eyed gunslinger with the huge-ass rifle is a totally new idea), tentacle-monster-fighting though she may be. Authors of the world, ask yourselves that one simple question: is your character Alucard? No? Then get on with it and pull the goddamn trigger!
Still, here I stand, bashing away at ICE with my obviously too-high standards (probably not that high, though: I'm enjoying Naruto at the moment) and jaded outlook on dreadful science-fiction clichés... Yet I have to admit there was something in this show I hadn't seen before. Ever. Something that left me speechless indeed.
There's that image of a terrorist girl in a french maid outfit (half the extras on this show are french maids, don't ask me why) ****ing herself to death with a bioweapon dildo.
If you'll excuse me now, I need to go claw my eyes out.Last edited by Wild_Cat; 13-08-2007, 20:49.

lol, i still yet to watch ICE ep1, i think ep2 out there somewhere. i always understood it to be for yurifans. I think i'll just skip through it, like i do with Umisho which is just as bad, at least Girls Bravo had Kirie, Fukuyama and Kosame to save the show(and the stupidly good animation for a show of its kind).
One a good note, watched the last subbed episode of Hanada Shounen Shi, Anime Empire finally got around to finishing a show they started back in 02... anyway even enough i mentioned it many times in the past this show is simply superb. Its finished on the longest story they've done spanning 4 eps(most are 2), and the ending is a weeper

Basically part 2 continues with the boy from part 1, but as seen from a new girls perspective as they move through High School.
Quite touching when she realizes during the that fantastic rocket lunch in the background that the Boy will never see her in his heart
, then it moves on to Part 3 which while tugs the emotional strings along with the theme song, disappoints by being to short and with it being all flashbacks from his Adult life looking back to his teens, it shows there could have been many, many more stories told
around how he and Akira(i think that her name) went there seperate ways in life when in there early teens they seemed like soulmates...
Even if you not into all this romance drama stuff, the art and sound is just to incredible to miss out on, lets hope someone does HD encode of the full film soon.
The second chapter was equally on par with the first one and the alternate viewpoint worked really well. The third chapter I thought ended up as a bit of a dribbly mess really. I could see what he was trying to convey in it;
how, as adults grow up, their childhood dreams and entusiasm afdes away to become nothing but a memory
but it didn't really come across too well. I think, if he'd taken a bit more time away from the flashback to do it a little better, it would have been great.
As it stands though, overall it was a fantastic movie. Thanks for the recommendation to watch it!

Just finished watching ICE ep1 after that 'recommendation'
Have to say, i found myself laughing at how serious the show takes itself, it kind of like a reverse gundoh, horrible voice acting(i swear most of them sound like they have blocked nose), well drawn airship's but ms paint'esk characters, stupid exploding gore and a main lead that looks awful lot like they main guy from final fantasy unlimited if anyone remember that god awful show, even down to him using a gun with magic bullets... i'd swear loyalty to this show if happened http://youtube.com/watch?v=JBVI9O9E3kU (classic kaze moment from FFU)
HI GUYS!!!
GO GO ep2

now i have a computer capable of playing it, ive been doing some catching up. watched the whole lot of this over the past couple of days and can certainly say its one of the best things ever. i remember it being quite a pain to actually track down and get the full set at the time, but i'm so glad i did, even though it took such a long time to get round to watching it.
absolutely amamzing show, right up there with my favourites.
beautiful art and animation, and some really funny and heart warming moments all the way through.
preaching to the converted no doubt, but i cant recomend it enough

Kamichu - http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl...anime&aid=3195
I remember watching the first two eps when they were first coming out... 2 years! I can't believe it's been that long. Don't remember if I finished it actually, I do remember loving it back then. It's definitely one I intended to watch through to the end. Perhaps I should get back to it after I'm caught up on some of the new shows and recently completed ones.
