Yeah it is a ferret - they had ferret racing there, but it was through tunnels so it didn't really work as a shot

My favourite is the vulture - I really like the background against the bird - awesome creature.

I have more stuff from the show on my flickr page.

It was interesting shooting the horse competition stuff - I don't do a lot of sport photography, so it was something different.

Another from me. Macro lens this time. The yellow is from a field of rapeseed.

Great constrating colours there Ish. That yellow is really striking.

Another one from today - the displays of the birds were awesome - the guys let them fly free and amazingly even though they went sky high, they flew back to the handler. They could just have gone, feck it, off to the wild, but they didn't.

Does anyone still use film, getting the daughter a 35mm camera and just want to get some cheapo film.

Can anyone recommend somewhere to get some from and also a cheap place to get it developed.

I still use film, you can get it at any photo developer on the highstreet.

Film isn't cheap to develop though (unless you're doing it yourself), it'll cost you £7-8 for a roll of 36 exposures at best. Again there are plenty of places on the high street, such as Boots - that'll be your best bet.

            Digital really is your friend.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of 35mm camera is it? SLR or compact? If SLR, what brand and which lenses?

Is she getting into photography properly? If so, some B&W film and a darkroom adventure could be fun, and it apparently teaches you a lot about light.

Here are a few photos from the last few weeks:

I just shot a gig/club event last night, so I should have the pics from that to show you in the next few days. Every time I shoot something I actually care about I get increasingly desperate for a new lens or two. I really felt the pain last night... The Tokina wide angle would've been a treat, and a nice long lens (say the 70-200 2.8 IS) would've been a marvel. Also, a nice standard zoom would've lubricated matters infinitely. There's nothing like trying to switch lenses in the middle of a gig.

Sorry to get your hopes up - she's only 3 1/2!

The camera was part of a set of Dora the Explorer stuff, (am used to 35mm got my first SLR in 1980 - went digital in 2003) and was going to get a few rolls of cheap stuff she could use on her hols and wondered where you guys got your films from, as it turns out the camera is a disposable one so in the end no need to buy.

                  Cheers for the replies though

Liking that last shot Magnakai - I like the perspective, the way you're almost looking at the same angle as the subject. Nice one.

Just a point & click job, but I thought the clouds were interesting enough to post. We were off on a walk above town and the weather turned. It felt very dark very quick!

That is a great sky in that shot

Took this at a lagoon that is just in front of houses, couldn't get close enough to the Egret but just loved the reflections.

Also, this was shot in natural light in a dark patch of a garden we visited:

                              Many thanks

                                Do you want an SLR?

The Nikon D40 is very cheap right now, and a lot of people like it. I'm not one of them, but I can't deny that it's great value for money.

I'd recommend a Canon 400D, which I use daily and have taken thousands of pictures on, but it's going to be a bit over your budget.

If you're looking for a compact, then the Canon Powershot G9 is meant to be very good. I have a Fuji F31fd which hasn't seen much use since I got my SLR, but it is a bloody fantastic little thing. DPReview has tons of info on various things.
