Thanks mate, I thought so too. It helps having an awesome lighting rig and a REALLY interesting band to shoot as well though!

Looking forward to seeing your WOMAD stuff - you had a gorgeous weekend for it didn't you? If a little too humid perhaps though...

    Hope you feel better dude

What venue was it Dan, the lighting rig was great, one day I will shoot a gig with good lights...

      ...one day.

It's actually just a local hall near where I live in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. It is sometimes used for bands but only when someone hires the venue to put one on. They guys who organised the gig did all the lighting and sound rigs themselves, and the lights were excellent. Also, it was sufficiently loud without giving me tinitius for the next day or two. They'll be playing there again later in the year Al if you fancy popping up from B:right-on to see them

It was such a pleasure to shoot with all the beautiful lights

So very many photos... here's the first three! Show of Hands, an English folk band and damn superb.

With a slow lens normally at the top end of its 200mm range it was the usual battle between noise and shutter speed. By the end of the third day I was much more comfortable than the first day and shooting almost exclusively in manual mode - the changing lighting and black backdrops confused the hell out of the various exposure modes. For these shots I was quite lucky as the lighting was half decent.

Martha Wainwright. It was very dark in the tent and the lighting was on the meagre side.

There's so much good stuff at Womad. Definetly going to try for a photographers pass for next year - if I succeed I'll invest in a big fast zoom and take a monopod.

Funkydan - cheers for the suggestion. I've not got much in the way of editing software - one of my friends is dropping round lightroom and photoshop later though.

I have had a mess with the photo on the software that with came with my camera. Does this look any better to you?

                The fairground at WOMAD.

Bit dark so might need to do a little more work.

Exiled Tibetan Monks doing a dance in costumes.

Herb - I like the crop, very nice, keep up the good work

Ish, your WOMAD shots are really cool, especially the Wainwright one and the monks - keep'em coming.

Well, my friend got around to sorting out my website; it's just a holding page for now, but please bookmark it and I'll let you know when it's a bit more exciting though Funky Photos

Wow! Going back over the last 20 pages has made me think this stuff's pretty damned impressive!

I'd love to get into photography, predominantly just to take some pictures of landscapes. Where's the best place to look up on the disciplines and look into cameras? I've heard good things about the D40 and D80 on other forums - what do you chaps recommend?

This is the duck from another photo. He was gettign quite angry at this point.

This is the first photo I changed using lightroom. The difference in colour between the original photo and this one is staggering.

                        Couple of non-artist shots.

And these guys were dressed up to see Chic (who were fantastic).

                        @AngelsInFlight - you can't go far wrong with a Canon or Nikon. I use a Nikon D80 - its a decent camera.

It will be a while before I can join you with the DSLR's but I had some fun with my casio point and click last night. Bad photos, but the desire was there!

One day I'll get an SLR again and try and do something better. We can but dream!
