Favourite ever, wow, thanks. I like it but I hadn't classed it as one of my best ever.

Funny about all those feeling as I'm not young any more, it was shot in mid winter so they were not at all what I was thinking of when I dreamt the shot up, but I guess I do have a fair bit of freedom.

      Thanks again

There is a MP war going on and has been for several years - most people believe that more must mean better quality pics...which it does, up to a point. As mentioned already a 6mp camera will print to A4 just as well as a 12mp camera.

The reason that I see to have the top end of 12-16mp is either to print larger than A4 or when you deal with cropping images. I have a picture of a boat that has been cropped hugely because it was about a mile out, it fills the screen but there is no way it could be printed at a decent size. If I had more pixels to play with then I'd be able to do more with the image.

That bike shot - did you rig up some sort of tripod? I'm very impressed

Should have taken a pic of the rig but yeah, just strapped the tripod onto the seatpost using some strap things I had in the garage, cushioned it a little with some rubber padding.

Was very shonky but seemed to do the job!

That shot would never have worked handheld at 1/10. Everything would have been blurred.

Should get yourself a magic arm Pete. You'll need a superclamp for the spiggot end,but i have hung a 5x4 off of one of these,so it should suit all your needs.

I was walking in a street where is normally much traffic, i thought why don't i take a picture when standing in the middle of that street

Again walking. In the early morning i was going to the local shopping mall when i saw this. I haven't seen much sun this year but that looked just brilliant

I was bored and again i took a walk. I Thought why not put my camera down on the ground and take a picture

                              How are lenses made?

Interesting and shows the effort involved in bringing high quality optics to the market.

I'm tempted to go to Africa - has anyone ever done a properly arranged photography holiday before? Just wondering if its best to do one of those (and potentially paying a lot more, but would mean ending up with like-minded folk) or just go and see what happens...

It's not like I'd be able to leave tomorrow or anything, just a random idea.
