A few snaps from a visit to Berlin.

My friend has recently started photography. I don't really know anything about photography myself but I mentioned there was a thread here and she asked me to post a few pics and see what you guys think. She's just starting out so any words of encouragement/advice appreciated.

The first two I really like. The last is a little too busy in the shadows for me.

@capcom - love the one with the letters. What is it?

Last post of the day from me:

Been playing with a new multi exposure mode that's been added to the L1 in a new firmware, still can't get the positioning quite right but it's entertaining to play with:

            capcom_suicide,

You have a bit of what looks like sensor dust on your building pic and orange thingy. Perhaps you could clone it out in PP. The letters one is great but maybe,in my humble opinion, it could do with a contrast/saturation tweak to bring out the black vs yellow.

Thanks Richard. These were just RAW pictures taken down in size. I agree totally.

I've done a quick edit and it's much better. With some care and attention I guess I could even those shades of yellow better.

@Ish, it was a sculpture outside a modern art building. Here it is:

I was more interested in the textures and letters, but thats just me.

A few more from my trip to the Lake District last week

Quite a nice warm bright day, which was kinda handy as I got soaked when I was stuck up to my waist in a bog.

I love the top one GT. Its simple and striking with great colours.

Was quite difficult to get much colour, as up there everything seems to be the same. All 3 taken with the 15mm Fisheye.

Ive just brought a Canon 400d and stock lens (for ?340 with cashback and quidco) and have no idea how to use it properly. Can someone give me some pointers please?

Ill mostly be using it for pictures of my nipper (when he arrives) and said nipper in various locations.

I would read the thread from page 1 but he'll have left home by the time I catch up with this many pages.

The 400d has a few built in shooting modes selectable from the top dial. The easiest mode to start in is the full auto mode (green square). That'll get you started.

Just shout up on IRC, if you need some pointers.

just peeing about after watching a nin music video which had a mega powerful camera lens zooming right in on some detailing... i'd love to try this with a proper macro lens, as on the video you could practically see the cones and rods in the guy's eyes.

also loving those landscapes ginger... they don't even look like the lake district i know!
