Hehehe, it divides opinion this one. I've consulted the rest of the internet and they concur with what's being said here. I still think it's funny that it's seen as 'disrespectful' not to have some fabric/silk around your neck but I guess it's best to go with the consensus. Back to M&S for me tomorrow!

On an unrelated note, what's a normal ratio of 'sent' to 'received' traffic on a net connection, just browsing not uploading YouTube vids or owt?

How much of a relation to the bride and groom are you?

I've been to multiple weddings/christenings recently and it seems rather en-vogue to not look smart.

Personally, I prefer to look smart for someone elses big day. It's traditional to wear a suit, and I just feel like it'd look like I didn't want to be there and didn't give a **** (both of which could be true incidentally) which I'd rather not show.

Just a close friend of the bride (known her since start of secondary school) and still see her regularly. Definitely going to go for a tie I think.

When your as old as me (41) you'll end up with a spectacular collection of ties. Take note - NEVER throw a tie away.

The stuff that was once classed as 'cool' is funny. Yes, I've got a paint splashed leather tie and a leather piano tie from the early 80s. Numerous 'character' ties, rugby ties, smart ones, bright ones, dull as dishwater paisley ones.

I was supposed to be seeing Sean Lock live tonight, but he's inexplicably cancelled his whole tour However, we will at least be seeing Sean Hughes AND Reginald D Hunter in his stead. Seann Walsh and someone else are also on. So it should still be a pretty good night
