wouldn't say you are wrong to want buttons, just not somethign I desire.

I prefer it to be sleek and distinct from other platforms, makes devs think and work to be creative.

if the processor power picks up and you have a standard joypad arrangement all you'll get is the usual multi format ports lazily thrown over.

personally I don't want my mobile platforms to be for traditional games which are handled far better by xbox/ps3 and wii. I want small bites of gaming that are distinct from the bigger boxed or download product.

For me, if you put buttons on the iPhone, you ruin what makes it great.

Devs have to do something different, sometimes it doesn't work, sometimes it does...and when it does...you get Space Invaders Infinity Gene, Doodle Jump and Plants vs Zombies.

Very rarely have I actually played a DS or PSP "on the go", yet the iPhone? I actually do! It's my phone so it's always on me, it's great.

I don't want my iPhone to do what my 360 or PS3 does, because I have those two for that "need".

Indeed, if you want to play games like SFIV and Call of Duty you are mental to get them on iphone, there are proper versions available on proper systems. The Ipod Touch is excellent at delivering games designed for the system, not shoehorned from existing platforms.

I dont see that as being mental, it's just another option mate.

Comparing the iPhone to playing at home on a console is pointless when it's not the same market. Compared to the DS or PSP though I would rather my iPhone because quite simply it's my phone and my mp3 player and my games machine and my web portal... all in one place.

It does all of those other things very well but it does some types of games really well thanks to its interface and some not so well for the same reason. I play mine on the go all the time while commuting and whilst I enjoy playing stuff like PvZ at the moment I also crave playing more classic games with proper controls.

I can dream. I dont think Apple is listening anyway so I am sitting here talking to myself and if I am a minority I guess I'll just have to accept it isnt going to happen. Fact is though it's possible and if its possible I would really like to see it happen. Thats just where I sit on the matter...

I don't know how long this has been out and I don't know if it's been mentioned on here before but I've just found ...TM and I'm completely hooked!

I was going to try and describe it but it's probably best if you just follow the above link and watch the trailer.

            EDIT:
Apparently it's the third game in a series, I've just found .TM and ..TM and I'm very tempted to go for all three.

still loving PvZ, perfect marriage of game and machine.

took a flyer yesterday on Extreme Lawn Bowling, its really good stuff, great characters and artwork, you get a basic bowling games with a few 'power' moves thrown in.

you place your bowl and drag an arrow to set power/direction, then you can fine tune your go by tilting from side to side or add/remove power with the other direction, works nicely in practice.

seems a good array of modes and tournaments and plays really well, worth a butchers.

Plants vs Zombies is awesome. Loving it.

I ended up buying all three of games I mentioned above and have really enjoyed each of them. So simple but can't stop playing them so I've downloaded all their other stuff too!

Wish I hadn't bought ...TM on your reccomendation John!

It's okay, but considering it's the same price as Plants vs Zombies I felt absolutely ripped off.

Why are devs allowed to put so little information out with their apps?

Yeah, I've watched the trailer and read the description and looked at screenshots and I still have no idea what it is.

Just got Words with Friends the other day and love it. Games last a day or so depending on who you are playing and how busy you are as you just take your shot whenever you can and the other person gets notified when you do.

One guy I played was clearly using some sort of help as every word he done was crazy stuff which kinda ruined the fun.

My username is Rossco7 if anyone fancies starting some games with me.

Drift Sumi-e is pretty ace. You're given a really basic track, and you have to trace a line with your finger through some red zones to drift round the course. Then it goes 3D and shows how you did. You're ranked on time and the quality of your line.

                            Look at the pretty, though.

got a couple of Reine Knizia games last night (the German god of board games mostly).

Ingenious is a lovely abstract board game I've had my eye on at Amazon for £25 for ages, won tons of awards, £1.19p for the iphone version with benefit of AI opponents and touney structure and solitaire modes, plus it keeps score for you. Can see this being an all time fave on the iphone for me as simply hours of play.

Next is Roto, a strangely addictive match 3 game where you rotate Trivial Pusuit pies to match up coloured sections, very simple and like I say, oddly compelling.

I've bought Ingenious but haven't got around to it yet because of Words With Friends & Plants vs Zombies.
