The brain is an organ, and like anything else in the body, things can go wrong with it.
I'm severely irked by weekends at the moment. ****e weekend after ****e weekend.
5 weekends ago - discovered piggy was ill
4 weekends ago - had to hand feed piggy all weekend. Exhausting.
3 weekends ago - had to hand feed piggy all weekend. As above.
2 weekends ago - had to take piggy to be put to sleep.
1 weekend ago - Missus got the oftsed call on Friday, so that weekend was ruined with workload and stress.
This weekend - Other piggy needs to go to vets. Went down to vet for 9.30am this morning as arranged. 'Oh, we've been trying to get hold of you. The vet has had to go out on call and won't be back for two hours.' Bollocks. What did they use to contact us, smoke signals? No messages left on any phone. So now we've had to try and get in elsewhere, which has meant that I can't go to the PO depot to pick up my package. Furthermore, I've been pressganged into going out for a birthday crapfest tonight. I don't like socialising with these people, I don't like Chinese cuisine, and I certainly don't like splitting the bill equally when everyone else has been troughing into their fat gobs while I've been picking at spring rolls.
I just wanted a weekend without hassle, FFS!

What irks me is that I know I should take this time off to try and level out but due to staffing issues I feel that I have to power through all my **** to keep the place running.
Also, the stigma that seems to exist around things like stress & depression. If you tell someone that you're being signed off for one of them they look at you like they're not real things and you should just "man up". What the hell do you think I've been trying to do since December? There's only so much a man can take!

teddymeow, be careful with the sleeping pills, they can sometimes cause more trouble than they're worth. Hypocritically of me, I'm an insomniac/night owl and I might have to give them a try some day soon but it really isn't a good idea to take them too often. I tried some herbal sleeping tablets once, and even after taking the maximum allowed dosage I wasn't sleepy at all.
This country's attitudes to stress and depression are pathetic, when someone is in that position it's usually because they've been pushing themselves too hard for ages, it's not a sign of weakness or needing to 'man up' at all.

It was actually by one of the mainstream pharma companies, I think it was Nightol Herbal or something. I wasn't surprised that it didn't work, though. The tablets smelled really, really, bad. That's the only memory I have of them. I was popping those tablets whilst holding my breath so as not to smell them.
