You know that trailer thing of having a moody cover version of a well known song that goes epic? And so many trailers have them now that I just find them pretty comical. Well through letting Apple Music play a bunch of random stuff at me earlier, I discovered that there are musicians really cashing in on this. It’s a like a whole genre of it’s own and I had no idea until today. There are a bunch of them but one example is called Hidden Citizens. Just go browse some of their albums from the last few years. Their tracks are even labelled ‘epic trailer version’ and they are all almost identical - different song, exact same format. And they’re not the only ones. I don’t know why this makes me laugh but it does. I think it’s the idea of someone saying “you know what? I’m going to get in on that trailer cover version action”.
