    Please God, no.

Although Tony Barret is claiming LFC bid is only ?25m.

£30m... I know English players fetch a premium but that's kinda taking the mick. He may be a genuinely good player but they're spending that much after what could just be a brief run of form...

That said, if Liverpool do get a lot for Torres, they'll need to spend it fast if the taxman isn't to take a big chunk.

If the Liverpool owners are happy paying the wage of an unmotivated player who doesn't want to be at the club, that's their choice.
He's worth what the paying club is prepared to stump up. If Chelsea don't want to pay that, don't tap the player up. Of course, perhaps his disinterested half to the season was a ploy to go for a reduced fee.

Fancy sticking in a transfer request in so close to deadline day, knowing it will be next to impossible to find a replacement (Suarez was not a replacement, but was bought into to add to what we had). Personally, his ?50m buyout isn't activitatd until the summer when we fail to get into ther CL. It makes little difference if we sell him now or in the summer as we're not likely to get a replacement now anyway.

I'd let him go in the summer, on our terms when we've secured a replacement for value.
No respect for him after this. Michael Owen must be happy...

No Euro experience, half a season in the top flight. Them Geordies are a right crack.

Personally I'm hoping this move comes off so Spurs don't end up spunking a huge amount of cash on him. He could develop into a world beater, but it's too much of a risk at the kind of prices being bandied about.

                He's just too slow.
Lack of pace is a real issue anyway, with Torres almost certainly leaving and Babel already gone, our two fastest attacking players have left.

Suarez doesn't exactly look electric, Gerrard is slowing up a little now, Maxi, Kuyt and Cole are all pretty slow and Meireles got done by Danny Murphy twice for pace last week.

Carroll still has a court case hanging over him as well doesn't he? I don't think I'd be willing to drop 30 million on someone who could end up behind bars for a year...

I think it's a massive mistake waiting to happen. Bad attitude and lifestyle.

Carroll is a massive gamble. That is all.

This might actually be a load of tosh.

Just been watching a load of videos of him and to be fair, he looks reasonably fast for a big lad. I would say he looks quicker than Suarez.

Carroll is definitely not slow. He seems to have quite a pacey burst on him.

Suarez is our new number 7.

Suarez & Carroll are still nearly £60m worth of massive gamble...

Sharky's point about the team lacking pace is spot-on. Needs to be addressed. We are still crying out for at least one quality winger/wing-forward (NOT Downing or Young).

Yeah, at least one proper road-runner would be great still.
Surprised nobody from the Premier League has taken a punt on Pablo Piatti, even if he is only about 3 foot tall.
