    7th on 67 points?
Would need a few teams to go on very good runs for that to happen, I think 61 is the highest 7th place total in a 38 game season. I guess it's not entirely impossible, but I would be pretty surprised.

No, I just think we'll finish 7th anyway. Couldn't tell you how many points we'll finish on, but based on our form right now alongside Villa, Spurs and City's, that's pretty much how it's going to pan out.

If anything this season has taught me it's "expect the expected" and "things aren't about to get any better just yet"

Last night was probably the "Middlesborough moment" of last season, for me - just ain't gonna happen.

Dear me that was an awful game. Not quite sure where we go from here. At least it's only 1-0 and it's possible to turn it around. Not convinced we will though.

Both sides were pretty terrible . I was wondering what the Five Commentators were going on about when they said it was good Liverpool were playing like that after the weekend though (shortly before they conceded).

1-0 makes things tricky if they get an away goal.

            Hard times.

              Rafa after the match -

"I am disappointed with the result but really pleased with the effort of the players. They were fantastic today. It is clear, particularly in this competition, you have to score away because it is an advantage. We were just not strong enough today but there is still 90 minutes to play. I am confident we can beat anyone at Anfield on our day with the fans behind us."

Is he actually deluded or does he just know Liverpool can't afford to sack him?

**** game, typical of Liverpool in Europe this season. That has happened to us a number of times (conceding late goals).

Ah well, this season is clearly a write off. Lets finish 5th, get rid of the Americans and hopefully get ourselves onto a better financial footing. I'd be happy, right now, to watch a Liverpool that actually tried week in week out and got mixed results compared with the rubbish I'm witnessing this season.

Or maybe he thinks slagging the players off twice in one week will do more harm than good?

Disappointing result tonight considering we had the better chances. Lille didn't do anything for 85mins and the goal they did get was one of those flukey/freak goals. Not sure why the freekick was given in the first place to be honest, just rewatched the highlights on ITV after the Fulham game and I still can't spot any foul there....Oh well.

The main thing is, the quality wasn't there tonight. Which has been the point in case for most of the season.

The difference from tonight to Wigan was the players actually put some effort in tonight. On Monday evening they were atrocious, never even attempted to play football to whatever capability they possess.

Both situations aren't acceptable when Liverpool want to look towards challenging for honours but at least putting as much effort into the game as you can is commendable. Regardless of quality.

"30 mins gone and it's party hats and streamers at Anfield" - Joe Royal. lol.

Looks like we're playing our most talented players except for maybe a missing Fabio Aurelio. Good stuff.

About time we raped someone this season. Great to see Torres, Gerrard and Aquilani all playing together at 100% fitness at long last. Nice to see Babel TRYING too

Any news on if Gerrard will get a violent conduct ban?

Looking at the highlights just now, I think it's not looking good for Gerrard. He seemed to throw his elbow into the back of Brown's head, even though Brown was clearly intent on obstructing him and also initially threw an arm out.

That could actually make it worse. They'll come down far heavier on violent conduct if they think it's a retaliation.

And the silly thing is the ref was a few yards away and just had a word. What does it take to get Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard or Terry sent off? It seems a lot of the English players get preferred treatment from referees. If that was Drogba it would have been a red.
