      It is a mess.
I think we've gone all European, and Comolli will have the final say on all transfers from this point on.

Nobody can suggest the likes of Blackpool, Blackburn, Stoke etc. are as good on paper as the current Liverpool squad.
You are underachieving, perhaps, but I certainly wouldn't say Liverpool have a much stronger squad than the likes of Blackburn, Bolton, Sunderland, Newcastle and even a few others. Take away Torres at his best, Gerrard and Reina and the team reeks of average. With Torres being a total duffer at the moment and Gerrard also not at his best for various reasons you have simply become a team that will lose one week and win the next to any team.

I'd love Coyle to come in and play the stuff that he did at Burnley and what Bolton are starting to do.
This is one thing I have said for years and why I never rated Rafa and Houllier.

For years Liverpool have been terrible to watch. Yes they have bagged a few cups and a very lucky (but fair play) CL win, but watching them at times has been murder.
Tactically Rafa and Gerrard seemed to lack any ambition, playing reserved and stilted football trying to grind out results.
It almost worked when they finished second, but that season there were a couple of outstanding talents at the top of their games.

Liverpool need a manager that is not afraid to take on the task of managing such a massive club. Roy is playing even worse football than before and it is a wonder why he bothers with any strikers at all, such is his lack of ambition.

Coyle, good shout for sure but could a man like him step into such large and demanding shoes?

Hang on, Blackburn, Bolton and Newcastle squads? Are you serious? They are poor squads compared to Liverpool I reckon. Sunderland I'd have to look at them, mainly because they've spent loads of money and I have never really looked at their squad.

              Gordon (9 million) - Mignolet (2 million)

Bardsley (less than 1 million) - Onuoha (loan) - Richardson (5.5 million) - Bramble (1 million) - Ferdinand (8 million) - Turner (4 million) - Mensah (loan) - Da Silva (dunno, not much)

Henderson (youth) - Zenden (free) - Cattermole (6 million) - Malbranque (dunno) - Meyler (250K) - Riveros (3 million iirc) - Elmohamady (loan)

              Gyan (13 million) - Bent (10 million) - F.Campbell (3.5 million) - Wellbeck (loan)

Keepers are decent, defence surprisingly good (Bramble has been outstanding, much to my disbelief) with 11 clean sheets in 22 Prem games (most in league), midfield a bit weak, forwards good.

Over 70 million quid there! Though people like Ferdinand and Gordon were Keane's indulgences, paying way over the odds.

I'm sure I'm not alone in longing for a return to the days when we were 'grinding out' results like 4-0 vs Real Madrid, 4-1 away at United, 5-0 vs Villa in the space of a week and scoring over 100 goals in a season.

Then you would be wrong. I just do not see how people can say Liverpool have anything other than a middle of the road squad.
Players like Skrtel, Krygakos, Koncheski, Jovanovic, Ngog, Babel, Poulsen, Pacheco and so on, all fairly run of the mill players who would not look out of place in a smaller branded team.

Of course there were great moments, as in any football season but ultimately, watching Liverpool was often a bit of a bore.

Just to back my point, Man Utd top with no games lost are so dull to watch this season.

Oh I still watch them good ol' days on YouTube today.

Well, they've scored almost twice as many goals as Liverpool, so there must be something happening in their matches?

Hodgson has taken dull, dire football to the next level. 7 goals in 10 away games is just incredible in all the wrong ways

Indeed but even my friends who support Man Utd find them pretty boring to watch. They lack flair, style and fail to entertain quite often. I am not saying this is wrong etc, results count after all. I just didn't want you to think I was trying to kick Liverpool. I would love to see them sack Roy and sort it out. He simply must go. Playing counter attacking football at Anfield is not the way to go.

If you can pick your jaw up off the floor after reading the quote from that fine expert on top-class football of the very highest level Lawrie Sanchez, this ****e has to be heard to be believed.

To be honest the BBC's sport column has significantly gone down in quality over the last few years, you only have to read the ****e by 'experts' such as Phil Mcnulty, Mark Lawrenson to realise that.

Actually we have a manager who has no idea how to play those players to their strengths.
