Bit of a mad transfer window, but after having a little time to think about it, not sure it's as gamble-tastic as it looked when it was all happening.
Fees will get leaked to the press in the coming days/weeks I guess, but it looks like we've come fairly close to breaking even and have also cut the wage bill.
Torres is a great, great player, but it looks like we've at least doubled the ?20.4m he cost.
He wanted out, so no point in hanging on to him and he's had two operations on the same meniscus problem in the last year. Probably a decent deal for both clubs given the circumstances, I don't think anybody got mugged.

If he wanted to go in this transfer window, he should have slapped that request in at the begining of January, rather than leaving it to the last moment to give us the opportunity of sounding out other suitors. I think he colluded with Chelsea to leave it to the last moment, giving them the best shot at getting him. Him moving to Italy or Sp[ain would have been viewed far less controversially than the move he has got himself.
I have less respect for him, for the way he's left than I do Michael Owen or Stevie Mac.
Here's hoping some of our players let him know how we feel on Sunday.
As fort Carroll, I'm hugely dubious about his potential. Many an English player has started out brightly and faded away the minute the hype subsides.

Lets hope Carroll don't turn into Francis Jeffers or the horrible Wayne Rooney. I'm optimistic about Carroll, Think he'll have a good frame of mind as a Centre Forward for the mighty Liverpool. No greater club than LFC in the English League, If I've of turned pro, I'd only of played for LFC given a chance, I'd sooner be on the dole than play for scumchester.

I'm dubious about the Ajax goals mainly because in the Premier League a defender will just take a lump out of him more often than not to stop him getting the chance he needs. Also, the Dutch league is not famed for its high quality outside a couple of clubs.
But at the same time if he can work as hard as possible, which seems to be a trait of his, he looks to have the edge over Kuyt technically so he could be the kind of striker the club thought it was getting when it bought Kuyt a few years ago.

Romario and Ronaldo scored a ton of goals in the Dutch league and did half decent when they left, you've just gotta hope Suarez turns out like they did.
He looks class from what I saw of him at the world cup and occasional bits of Dutch footy on ESPN, seems to have more about him than just banging in goals against dodgy defenders. If I had to bet I'd be more inclined to put money on him being a success rather than a failure. Could have done with him at Spurs!
