A goal at last. Looked offside mind you. Great delivery though.

Lineker played with a broken wrist in 86. If Drogba wants to play then let him. If it was a proper break, he wouldn't be near a football pitch. It's probably a very minor fracture.

            From the BBC news ticker:
Football's world governing body Fifa has denied reports it detained dozens of women for wearing orange mini-dresses at a World Cup match in an alleged ambush marketing scam by a Dutch brewery.

Spokesman Nicolas Maingot stressed that none of the women were arrested at the Netherlands versus Denmark game at Soccer City on Monday, or detained for questioning. Maingot did say that officials asked the women about "clear ambush marketing" and that Fifa was looking into "all available legal remedies" against the brewery.
May I be the first to say, 'this news story is pointless without pics'.

downside of a winter WC is lack of scanty dressed crumpet, especially bearing in mind the drivel on the pitch to watch.

all these people writing to complain are a product of the X Factor/Big Brother era, if Simon Cowell ran the world cup you could send a text message in to vote on whether to ban them or not. people are too used to influencing what they watch now and think their opinions actually matter, most of sky & bbc news is reading emails from 'outraged of Tunbridge Wells'

still no game in which both teams have scored and its not a draw.

What imbeciles are compliaining to the BBC about something which they have no control over?

Last night I watched the weather. It isn't quite as sunny today as I had hoped it was going to be, so I'm going to complain to the BBC!

the BBC obviously think they can...
                  - they could press for directional mikes, so the noise is mixed out at source
                  - they can apply filters to harmonise ala noise reducing headphones in post production

Okay, Ivory Coast vs Portugal, surely this match has got to be at least half decent... right?

At least something good came from that incident, Robbie Earle has been sacked over it.

Sad panda face. We need more lovely ladies to balance the dullness on the pitch and the constant droning.

Also, why has Robbie Earle been sacked?

ITV says it has sacked its World Cup pundit Robbie Earle after finding he had given tickets to a third party in breach of Fifa regulations

for those wondering what the hell the robbie earle comment meant

I'd have sacked him for being a crap pundit years ago

There's actually some crowd noise this game. Guess there's lots of ivory coast supporters and fewer neutrals.

Ronaldo reminding me why I hate him so much. Two dives so far, one earning a yellow for the other guy.

but although 2 dives from Ronaldo the width of a post away from goal of the tournamemt (not saying much)

there was a new hell at last nights Italy match, a new bass tone of vuvuzela that cut through the general drone and hit a note all of its own.
