Finished the game (finally) this morning and to be honest it would be my GOTY (2007) if it weren't for that last chapter.

Why do game creators insist upon ruining great games with stupid last levels? Took me about 20 tries before doing it. Then the very last bit of the game, it wasn't obvious what it wanted me to do either, until I'd almost given up then I realised you just have to

run at him the second time, not worry about him getting the gun as you're faster

    ...

LOVED the game but that last level left a sour taste in my mouth.

Nevertheless, roll on Uncharted 2 please!

I thought that last level was a fitting end really, especially the final bit, that was pure drama with the rain crashing down around you. Reminded me a lot of Metal Gear Solid for some reason.

Yeah I thought it was handled very well. You can tell they were torn though - they really wanted to provide a dramatic, challenging climax but to keep in with the game they really couldn't throw a 200 foot tall monster at you as a boss, hence the QT inspired final sequence. The only other option would have been to take control away completely for that final fight, which would definitely have felt like an anti-climax.

So yeah, a difficult choice but I think the one they took was the right one.

Well I only waited 4 months to finally play the damn game!

My first impressions, 15% in, are that it's really good! A very Indiana Jones meats GOW meets tomb raider game.

I must say I am blown away by the visuals, and especially the water effects and textures. The "treasures" you collect are abosolutly amazing visually!

Only downside is the texture pop in, just like Mass Effect. I guess this is a limitation of the speed of the BluRay I/O, rather than the power of cell/memory.

Either way, I wonder if this is actually the best looking console game yet? Nice.

Gameplay is solid and fun, not ground breaking so far, but nice relaxing entertainment with a fair difficulty curve.

You know, I only ever saw the texture pop in maybe 2 or 3 times in the whole game. Certainly not as bad as ME and seems to resolve a lot quicker as well.

Regarding the game itself. If I had played it last year when it came out it would have pipped ME to my own personal GOTY 07 award. Awesome game, loved every minute of it.

Well I got stuck on Lost Odyssey so fired this up yesterday, just completed it now!

Incredibly compelling, gorgeous to look at and impossible to put down. Brilliant stuff, best action/adventure since Resident Evil 4 for me.

Quite late to this one - only picked up a PS3 today.

Very impressed. Snappy dialogue, beautiful graphics, gameplay that feels like Tomb Raider updated.

its good, isn't it, I found it even better on hard 2nd time round

even watching a mate play after I'd finished it twice, I was amazed at the graphics.

Aye really impressive. Stood on the U-Boat with the sunset in the distance, everything orange tinged, was incredible

I still haven't finished this, but oddly, I've been playing it the last few evenings. Am now 82% through the game according to my save, and gunning for the end. Quite shameful that I've only played it for just over 5hrs since buying it! Not sure why that's the case, I guess it must have come out the same time as a few other big games?

Latest Zero Punctuation not so keen on it, but when does he ever have a nice word to say eh?

Ok I'm now at 88%, and I have

                        zombies, or some mutant things

, to contend with. Spoilt it completely for me. I was really enjoying the story and the characters up until this point. WHY!!?!

I didn't mind that so much to be honest, though they do lead to some of the more frustrating sections of the game. They are actually justified when you play a little further, they fit into the storyline nicely.

They weren't an issue for me either. In fact I thought they fitted the feel of the game quite well.

It was the equivalent of the opening the Ark of the Covenant in Indiana Jones.

I knew they were coming... you could just tell. Once it started getting dark it was almost a foregone videogame conclusion. It just seems such a cliche and felt to me like when the original PC Far Cry turned from considered combat against mercenaries to frantic combat against monsters.
