I know about the d-pad, the inventory system is still **** though. I don't know why they couldn't use all 8 directions, Fallout 3 does it nicely.

Indeed. He looks horrible, sounds horrible, and comes out with the kinda lines an everyday child or retarded adult would say. And everytime Sheva opens her mouth I wanna put a bullet through her head too. I don't know what it is about Japanese games (or maybe it's just the Japanese games I've played) but I for one am tired of them always sounding like childrens cartoons.

I think one of the things that really needs looking at for Resident Evil VI is the setting. The game looks nice but it works so much better when a bit more local real world like when it was in Raccoon City or even CV's Island. When I'm in a warehouse in a battle with 'zombie's' who can run, use cover and are expert weapon trained with AK47's the series looses all of it's charm for a while. As much as I'm enjoying the game I'd enjoy it infinately more if it had low numbers of shuffling zombies with no weapons and I was in an enclosed space with limited health and ammo like the old days.

This would be an ideal opportunity for Capcom to branch the series off in two separate directions.

I old school (no not more Umbrella Chronicles) and 1 new school.

Do they have the balls and the resources though? I doubt it.

A mix of both perhaps. Current engine/controls (maybe with a slight adjustment ) with the slow pace, limited ammo and puzzles of the originals. I really like the current combat - shooting legs and weapons out of hands tec - and love co-op, but miss the lonely corridors and sneaking about in the dark. Shooting the dagger out of some crazed monks hand would be so much more effective if it was preceeded with 5 mins of navigating a spooking corridor and hearing creepy sounds in the distance.

Or just the happy middle. Like RE 3.5.

Yeah they need to bring back hook man or foggy RE3.5 and turn them into a full game. It's weird how far they get into making these RE prototypes before abandoning them. Guess the series producer is a perfectionist.

I've perciveered to the final boss now and

Ive no idea what to do, Im pushing a big boulder and sheva falls into some lava before I can get anywhere near her to save her

                  What am I doing wrong?

When Wesker jumps over the other side and starts to approach her you need to shoot him to give her time to climb up. The way I did it was to run straight for the boulder, push it in then run back to Wesker while Sheva shoots him and draws his attention to her. Then when he jumps over to her side, shoot him.

Clocked the game last night and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There were some things that dampened the experience a bit; some of the QTE's felt as though you had to know they one coming in order to pass, especially those that involved tapping one button. Why two people can't combine a couple of items between them is beyond me, as is the fact that you still can't use an item without picking it up. Sheva holds her own well enough although the AI can be a tad bit stupid at times, at least she didn't feel like a dead weight.

It's definitely a better experience played with a friend and I'll be going through Veteran to grab any emblems I've missed.

Had a quick go on Mercenaries and it felt different. Tell a lie, at first it felt wrong and my first impressions were along the lines of "Capcom wtf have you done!". In RE4, Mercs mode was basically the first village encounter made replayable over and over. Didn't matter that the areas were different, it was same experience each time. What did matter was that they managed to capture the tension of playing through the village the first time round and made it endlessly playable. Forcing you to run away from the hordes in order to survive and at the same time forcing you to prolong the experience and attack to score. My first experience of RE5 Mercs didn't have this, the tension of it's predecessor replaced with frustration that I had to find Majini to kill. The only source of tension is the countdown timer reinforcing the fact that there's no-one around. I managed to get an A rank after a few attempts, but I really hope the first level is to break players in gently, because at the moment it just isn't quite Mercs.

Do the boulder after the bit with Sheva and the bridge.

That's the mistake I was making and it seems a bit silly that Capcom would even allow you to do them in the wrong order.

I think I've been playing this too much haha. I'm already half way through my third playthrough and I've found all the emblems, upgraded 7 guns fully (inc 2 magnums), unlocked all the secret guns, unlocked all costumes, unlocked most of the characters in Mercenries, Got almost all of the figures....

Still it's going to take a long time to get the achievement for upgrading ALL guns!

I completed all of Mercenaries mode and unlocking all the characters but thing is how does anyone get points beyond 500,000!? I'm looking at the leaderboard and i see Japanese players with that amount. Doing a long chain combo is hard when enemies suddenly disappear.

Only they come out with games like RE5 Compared to RE2 and CV RE5 is crap.

RE5 has had a pretty big revision since it was first unveiled. No running zombies for one thing.

I don't agree with that at all.
