It may not be a true 'Resident Evil' for a lot of fans, but when a game is this much fun I don't really care tbh!
Spot on, one of my favourite games this generation.

      Sorry

But really i admit i am a fanboy. I have read the books, watched all the movies, got a hard on over seeing leon and Claire in Degeneration. RE4 was good gameplay, crap story. Why keep us building up to stop Umbrella and than only to show about 1 minute about how they died on the stock market??? What a load of crap. And to make it even worse give us number 5 with forced co-op, taking away the very thing that made Resident Evil? And to make it worse, give the ability for the enemy to drive, ride bikes and hold guns!!!

Maybe i am sounding like a typical stereotype fanboy, but really i hate to see one of my favourite series turn to crap. And no, adding some old foe and characters does not make it a RE game.

If RE5 was entitled something else i wouldnt give a toss. Fact is, despite money hats, which isnt the case now, RE5 is a continuation of the story. So i expect a proper Resident Evil game. Not this crap.

Oh and if you look at sales, Resident Evil games sold better on Sony platforms regardless of numbers. CV sold better, 4 sold better etc.

And your right on the one big machine gun. It was a pretty crappy game. Still better than RE5 mind.

Regardless of all this, it still doesn't change the fact that this is no Resident Evil game, no matter which way you put it.
Surley the reason CV and Resi 4 sold more on the PS2 than other consoles is becuase more people had a PS2?

The fact is the number is obviously an important part of the appeal of the game, or you yourself woul;dnt be getting so riled up about it.

Anyway for me a sequel to a game shouldnt continue the story so much as build upon its predessors gameplay. RE4 did this, RE5 dosent really becuase it dosnet work as well as RE4 did.

he took more hits as he was a bigger enemy, thats the sort of enemy you wanna try it on.

          hope this helps?
i'll try your method on the big manjini guy later on when i play it today.

Sony sold almost 100 mil PS1s and over 100 mil PS2's though right?
I wonder what the % userbase of consoles sold (or whatever) is like for the Cube and PS2 regarding these two Resi games

It's only whilst playing on Pro in a bid to get the final achievement before selling the game I've become aware of just how atrocious Sheva's AI is and how prohibitive to one's success the controls are. Numerous lives have been unfairly lost because of things like pressing X to climb a ladder/jump over something only to bend down and pick something up instead. I've also lost count of the number of times I've gone down 'dying', heard Sheva shout "hold on!", then watched her make no effort whatsoever in coming to my aid. Even when she's right there at my side, she regularly makes no attempt to rescue me. It's retarded. It wasn't so bad on the easier difficulty settings as you could hold out while she got her act together but on Professional it only takes a second after you start 'dying' to die.

Beat it last night, really enjoyed it, though its faults have already been pointed out enough times. I really hope the next one is like the first RE4 trailer... we'll see.

One thing I wished they had put in is a 10th inventory slot, but a temporary one, so if you started moving it'd drop the item. So it'd allow you to pick up a herb if you're full and use it, or combine that herb with another in your inventory already.

Dude you've got the achievement for maxing ALL guns already??

Yeah, a friend gave me 45 rotten eggs (worth 90K) which I used to generate some 700K or whatever via the well-known exploit. I wouldn't have cheated like that but I just wanna 1000/1000 it and get rid asap, hopefully recoup most of that ill-spent £30.

heh, an ill-spent £30 but you got all achievements or are aiming for it? seems like you had a horrid time with it!

Nah, I wouldn't say I had a horrid time with it. I do think the game disappointing and playing on Pro is hugely frustrating ('specially with the AI partner) but, generally, I think it's an okay game, just not one I see myself wanting to play again. There are much better games out there.

Chris Kramer from Capcom recently stated in the Kotaku podcast that RE5 was already the step in the new direction. And that newcomers can easily join with this game.

Which is true, since those 'flashbacks' are made up solely for this game. Capcom didn't refer to Antarctica, but they referred to Spencer Estate. And that scene is also only in RE5 so newbies don't miss out. This aint no MGS4.

Sales for RE5 are magnificent. 1+1=2 so I think that the next RE will be like this, maybe with real time run 'n gun controls though. I don't expect an isolated RE3.5 experience which looked like a Silent Hill game and thats for a niche audience. A shame imo, since I'm also one who feels that RE5 is a lower point in the main series.

Finished this last night. I really, really enjoyed it...up until about chapter 5-3 where a Licker based set-piece gave me the gaming rage. Shame because I thought that was the best chapter for all-out Resi-ness...if you ignore the cover system like.

I thought most of Chapter 6 was pretty grim, too. I expected more imaginative stuff to occur on the
. There was so much potential for a host of new nautical mutations to fight, but instead you get more ruddy dogs, and a boss that's nothing but a mass of giant weak spots. Turd.

But I'm being overly negative about a game that for the most part I really enjoyed, so I won't bore anyone with the nightmare of a time I had on the last few boss-battles.

                            So yeah...I give it a fun/10

You sure saturn gamer? everyone else believes RE6 will be a complete reboot (more so than RE4) given the story has been pretty much tied up regarding umbrella and wesker and what not.

yeah, the story is most likely finished. Thats what they wanted to do. Finish the story, but in a way that newcomers don't feel alianated.

Now they want to start over, but WITH the RE5 approach. Thats what I got out of his story.

It was major nelson podcast by the way. And they mention it contradicts the Reboot remark, but I think sales talk.
