Upon getting up to chapter 5 and playing it for a bit I actualy started to really like this last night, the lickers are one of the few enemies in the game that seem to be designed around the way your tank of a characther moves.

But then I got to the second part of the chapter and all the enemies had machine guns and was forced to use the horrible cover mechanic that seems to have been shoehorned in at the last minute cause every game has one these days. I was again disapointed.

Still... was nice for the 15 minutes it lasted.

Completed it late last night and, like Gears of War 2, felt the last few chapters really fell away in terms of quality. The first few chapters were hardly a masterclass in design but chapters 5 and 6 felt decidedly hurried, bland and dreary. The final boss was rather tedious and predictable too and, ultimately, an anticlimax. Not tried Mercenaries yet but am expecting it to be the sole reason I don't put the game on eBay.

Structurely the game is shockingly poor and ripe for exploitation. The way you can return to any stage on any difficulty at any time to stock up on health, cash and ammo then return to where you left off completely removes any tactical element. Resi 4 encouraged and damn-nearly forced players to become super accurate with their shots, efficient with their health and choose very carefully what upgrades to buy because you never knew where the next lot of treasure or ammo would come from - Resi 5, in comparison, lets you play like a complete mong free from consequence. It's completely dumbed down.

You can acually use the cover mechanic early on in the game. I think its 2-2 or 2-3, you can use one of the houses as cover closet to the water. Which is rather strange as i haven't triggered it anywhere else, it was a fluke i discovered that.

Had a decent bash at this over the weekend. Running in 720 has gotten rid of all the tearing and i must add that the game is beautiful! Capcom must have spent all this time making the game look good, even the facial animations are realistic.

Got to admit, for teh first hour or so i couldn't help but criticise to myself how unlike Resident it was - but as soon as I made my peace with it the game picked up and i jus got sucked into the not stop action...... to some degree its Resident Evil 4 with bells on, but it does it SO well that there is just no need to complain.

I am loving Chris's back story and his reasons for being in the game - Im on Chapter 3 now and I will admit i died a number of time, not really due to enemies being difficult, but due to set pieces requiing me to shoot something in quick time which i failed to an annoying amount of times........

I am constantly strapped for cash which is slightly vexxing....... but im thinking the game will need a number of play throughs to get all stuff maxed out!

I think im relating more to this game because its focussed on a main character i can relate to with a back storey i want to know about. With RE4, I didnt really give a monkies about Leon Kennedy as he didnt really have a storey to tell......... even when he was in RE2 he was in my mind a boring character - as RE2 was all about Claire in my mind

I have not touched 2player yet and im not planning to till i have done the game on single player - i have too much to worry about already in the game to be concerned about someone else. The trophies adda nice little touch to it and so far the 'end level guardians' have been fun!

Gotta say though Chris's must have been hittin' them 'roids cos he is a walking mass of muscle lol.......

My only gripe at the moment is the camera system, it a little too close for my liking, id much prefer a wider shot so i can see more rather than need to pan around so much. Plus, it gives me slight motion sickness.

i did the 3 hit combo against one of the bigger enemys down on the dock when the timer is running.

hit him with the stun gun then had the x button option, sheeva followed then i got to do the third hit.

he took more hits as he was a bigger enemy, thats the sort of enemy you wanna try it on.

              hope this helps?

That is actually is pretty good way to look it, although I still think RE5 has atmospheric elements.

If you don't want to earn money the long way, there is a rather nice glitch that allows you to duplicate items which you can sell or keep for yourself.

You will need another controller and another profile though, the latter being really easy to set up for free.

Go to chapter 2-3, press start on the 2nd controller. Load up the hard drive when it asks and pick the profile. Then organise what stuff you want to give the other player in your inventory, make sure the 2nd player is empty. Load up the game. Give everything to Sheva. Then Press start and quit, when it asks you do you want to save your inventory, choose No for Christ, but yes for Sheva. Now she will have your Items. Just repeat the above process, but instead let the 2nd player Sheva give Chris his stuff back and select YES to save with Chris and Select NO for Sheva.

When you go to do this again you will notice that Sheva still has her inventory.

Its a much quicker way to do this to upgrade your weapons and you don't have to replay levels to get certain ammo and whatnot. I filled my inventory up with Grenades to do this as they stack up in sets of 5s. If you have Rotten Eggs they are even better, they sell for 2,000 a pop. I didn't have any when i attempted to do it though, as i'm still on 3-1.

Hope i managed to explain that clearly enough for you guys.

Also Is it just me or is it that hearing Sheva's last name make you think of Pikmin...

Yeah - I agree so I think you should do what I do - have self control and just don't abuse the system!

I actually think that this is the fault of the people who complained about Dead Rising and it's save system...

I found the last chapters to be fine, the part with the glass tubes gave me a true RE feel again. Its the stupid retarded AK47 enemies and the sudden option for Cover that brought be back into reality again. They don't move, just stand there to be shot. It would be better for the badguys to just recruit non-infected guys who can actually shoot properly

I'd rather have enemies without firearms, they at least moved and were kind of active. And you could use a lot of moves on them. I was also thinking of ebaying it, but I own about every RE so I keep it.

To do the 3 hit combo, I believe you have to do the hook, then press again to let Sheva AI follow up and then face the enemy yourself and press Action for the finisher.

I hadn't even planned buying this. I didn't play the demo, but read a lot of impressions and people seemed to dislike it quite a bit. I'm really happy I did buy it though, because this is a really really good game! I'm up to chapter 3-1 and I haven't had a dull moment yet. I'm no big fan of pre-4 Evils, so the more action-oriented RE suits me fine. In fact, I think that what I've played so far is easily of RE4 quality. Sure, it doesn't feel as new but what does these days?

Playing it on singleplayer (normal) and I don't plan on trying coop until I've completed it once. Sheva's AI hasn't let me down yet.

RE5 - The worst game ever?

The end of chapter 5 is ridculous first you have

The bit where you and Sheva split up and there are about 100 lickers that appear, she must have died about 5 times before i did it, if the game forces you to split up then the A.I. partner shouldnt be able to go and get herself killed.

And then there is the part where

youre on that spinning lift and enemies keep appearing and slowing the lift down, you have to shoot them but its virtualy impossible to aim at them becuase the lift is still spinning.

oh and of course theres the bit where the game goes all Metal Gear Matrix and features a 7 minute long boss fight that requires you do do absloubtley nothing but run about like a fool and hide from

                                Ninja Wesker

and then another boss fight after that which is basicaly a series of button bashing moments.

What the hell were they thinking?
