I got it for £5 from Argos a while back. I'm the most tolerant person I know as far as games go (Glass half full perspective, I can usually see the best in games) and I utterly hated it.
I have games like Haze in my collection that I've completed and got some enjoyment from despite knowing it's not a particularly good game. Lair just seems completely broken to me, regardless of controls.

after playing the demo I was sure I was NOT going to buy this game (because of game controls and boring gameplay, etc.....)
However last weekend I did buy the game and I'm playing it co-op with a friend of mine, we're now at 6-2 ...
All I can say is that I really REALLY like it, the controls still aren't the best around but they're fine for this game really, so far they never felt wrong at all.
I can agree with this not being a true ResidentEvil game like we knew them from the old PS games, this is more like, JerryBruckheimer does ResidentEvil, it's a great action/adventure game !! No back tracking, no real puzzels but a lot of action and great bos fights! and it all looks and souds absolutely amazing (especially level 4!!).
All I can say is that I'm happy I did buy it and it didn't dissapoint me at all.
can't wait to try Mercaneries after finishing the game !

I was also not going to buy it after the demo and reading the reviews but I got it on Saturday. Played it for 3 hours last night on single player and really liked it!. Not as good as Resi 4 but still better than a lot of other games.
Need to convince one of my mates to get it for some online co-op

I can only comment on the single and co-op games so far as I haven't played Mercs yet but its a game that has contained both eh? and ahhhhh moments in equal measure.
At times its gives you everything. Guns, bottoms, boobs, camp, cheese, Wesker, all in HD. At others its a frustrating, mind boggingly fist through screen mess with some awful design decisions.
Most prominent of the problems is Sheeeeeeva. At times you want to kiss her, others just shoot the daft bint in the leg and laugh as infected madman feast on her glorious behind. Its almost as though, at the start of the level, the AI decides to be either great or totally dumb with no inbetween. Nearly all of my deaths playing through in Vet have been because Sheva died. I take some blame for that but at times its one frustrating death after another.
As the game is coming to a close it also feels as though they ran out of ideas as its where some of the worst decisions with the game are made.
Inbetween this though are some great moments. There's tension and panic and some real fist in the air moments. On one boss I was on my last legs after playing like a real numpty but a final desperate shot from the pistol took it down when all looked lost. A great big releaved sigh escaped me which is something that only Biohazard and a few other games are capable of generating.
Co-op is lovely and is pretty much how some sections of it are meant to be played. A really enjoyable experience.
OVerall its great fun but the enforced co-op in single player was something of a mistake imo. Not always bad but frustrating enough to warrant a re-think for 6.
The direction of gameplay is also a big concern. Please lighten up on the combat for next time Mr Capcom.
Looking forward to Mercs soon which will quite probably propel this game into the stratosphere.Last edited by B1gBeard; 24-03-2009, 18:05.

Not been keeping up with this thread as I wasn't too fussed whether I played this or not. But as I've got this week off as does my housemate for the majority of it, so we've both splashed out and from a brief starter session today it's been pretty good fun.
Some nice set pieces, really quite gorgeous to look at, and despite everyone whinging about the state of combat I've found it ok - a little frustrating perhaps, but not a game breaker by any means. Looking forwards to the rest of this a lot.

Finished this the other day. Chapter 6-3 annoyed the hell out of me before I even got to the climatic showdown.
Used up all my proximity mines and good ammo before I realised there was a gatling gun with infinite ammo you can use.
All in all, pretty decent game. Just a bit of a disappointment when you compare it to the previous game.
Onto my second playthough now. This time on Veteran difficulty. But this time I've got a friend to help me out. There is no way I would even consider playing it on Veteran on my own. Much too frustrating, I would imagine. You've got enough to worry about without babysitting the AI. Sheva wasn't too badly behaved on my solo playthrough on Normal when I stopped selecting the Attack/Kamikaze mode and kept her on Cover duty. Only downside to that is that she always selects the crappiest weapon in her inventory, or stands there like a dolt as an infected creeps up on you from behind.

Didnt like the demo (was playing DS at time) got it for birthday on 360. Adored it went out and bought it on PS3 so could play co-op on both. My GOTY so far think its fantastic even better than GOW for co-op.

I just started playing this earlier this evening, I had to wimp out and play it on the easiest setting as I was getting slaughtered all the time right at the beginning of the game (I'm putting it down to age and having less time to play games these days!). Ace game, actually felt dread when a crowd started storming towards me.
Absolutely brilliant
