I've generally found quite a variety of characters, which is testament to a good game imo. There's some characters only the brave seem to attempt (Rachel, Arakune), but generally you know if you're coming up against one of those two you're in for a tough fight. Funny you should mention Carl, I just saw a replay from one of the guys near the top of the leaderboard on 360 using Carl to absolutely annihilate (v near double perfect) Ragna. Again, a tricky character to use, but in the right hands, very hard to defend against.

Carl has an infinite that some top players will probably be able to pull off. I think he's broken though, in a bad way. His Nirvana doesn't seem to register all inputs.

With Arakune, I don't really feel at home yet but I almost outsmarted a good Ragna player (level 30 ish). I kept trying to curse him from unreachable position and grab+super. Lost, but it was like the 1st time I used that guy. With Hakumen I managed to trash him though. Spacing and airdashes really.

I just don't really have an answer om Noels barrages... yet. She is the one I faced the most.

Everytime I use Nu, I get Bang counterpicked and his speed overwhelms me. I think Bang's a bad matchup for Nu

My experiences playing in the Japanese afternoon & evening (UK's wee small hours and early afternoon):

I've fought everyone, but the majority have been Jin & Noel. Both are believed to be easy winners, and I'm very happy for people to keep believing that about Noel as she is my best match-up by far, I very rarely lose to Noel! Jin is a different matter, he surfs his ice at very unexpected times and always manages to catch me out.

The middle grounds are Ragna, Rachel, Hakumen & Nu.. I see them fairly regularly and probably in that order. In the first week EVERYBODY was using Nu, but that was before most people had beat the arcade mode and learned strategies against her. Once people had her sussed she lost popularity. Ragna & Hakumen I just hate... my timing is so bad with Ragna I just eat combo after combo, & I always stuff up blocking against Hakumen.

Then it's Taokaka, & Bang... followed by Litchi, Arakune & Tager. I've only fought 4 mirror matches as Tager (and won 3 of them!) The rarest is Carl, I've fought him 2 or 3 times, but when you DO meet a Carl, be afraid... people only pick him if they know how to use him, and I always get the bejesus kicked out of me. (I never noticed any problems with inputs on Carl's puppet - you know that it registers when you release the button, not when you press it, right?)

Taokaka takes a lot of skill to use, she was my chosen character before I fell in love with Tager and her weak damage output forces you to learn good combos and strategies. She's not as complicated as Rachel or Arakune but hard to get the best out of.

Will play some games against who's on in the next few days. I'll bring my Litchi to flip all over you!

As usual, I'll be online except Sunday evening to be the worldwide approved punching ball with Nu.

Finally got Score Attack down, and after about 60 ranked matches I've also just hit level 30. Only 3 achievements left and they're all "Play X amount of ranked/player" matches. Will be v happy once I get the full 1000 on this, and it's nice to know I can actually enjoy myself going for these last ones. Awesomesauce.

Jeez, fuse! 1000 points! very impressive. How long do you think it's taken you to get that?
Still plugging away with Arakune. I like him, it really is my kind of character. I love messing people up with his randomness...Curse them and as they jump send in a bug to knock them out of the air  I know for a fact a lot of people get beat by me and think "WTF just happened there!?"

Not there just yet, and tbh the last few are probably the biggest grinds, just they don't require me to actually do anything except play. Have won all the fights I need to, finished all the modes, done all the moves etc. I am well over the 25 hours mark as I got that achievement on Monday during an offline versus session with Shoju, but considering I will still be playing this for some time to come getting the 1000 is just the beginning I still need another 140 ranked matches and about 120 player matches, if you fancy playing some time

LOL. Noel's flowchart would be like press D->mash random buttons->win.
Fought just a few Arakunes, but from what I've seen players tend to use the crazy attacks he has rather than abusing the curse effects.

Although I see it as legit over scrub play considering on the DVD that comes with the LE the guy playing Arakune says it's important part of his game to get and keep the opponent cursed

eastyy: I would get yourself online, I thought the same thing but you can see people's levels so you have any idea how good someone will be.

Managed to beat a rank 30 the other day, was chuffed to bits!

Anyhoo, it far better to play other people than the AI.

In the game they say 'Blaze' but the Japanese katakana is basically 'blay'. I think it should have been 'blay blue' but the english localisation team thought that sounded daft so just made it blaze.
