I just want to say again - this is awesome.

Played some games last night with Goemon and a Solvenian lad who came across my Gamertag on here looking for other European players, and t'was thoroughly enjoyable. Getting quite confident with Tager now, and thinking that it's about time to learn some other new characters - Hakumen is pretty high up this list. Tempted to learn Arakune even if just to give me a better idea how to play against him too

Have to say I was totally raped for the entire session! Really showed me the level of depth the game has (and how far away I am at being any good at it!!)

Woohoooo finally beat score attack!

I found out that I had a guaranteed throw after blocking several of the attacks that Unlimited Ragna likes to use frequently (particularly Gauntlet Hades & Inferno Divider), and also from playing with Largo yesterday I learned that if I triggered magnatech wheel after he uses carnage scissors he takes the damage instead of me.

I was doing pretty well armed with this knowledge and won my first ever round against him, but I was still messing up my inputs in the frenzy of attacks coming at me. So I took the cheap way out, and set the 'easy special' buttons to the two unused buttons on my stick. One for the command throw, one for the distortion drive. That way I could just block and react appropriately when needed without fumbling the input. Hell's Fang still caught me out though as after blocking he would be too far away for all of my throws and most of my pokes to connect. I got barrier crushed a few times while on the defensive, but in the end I got him! Stupidly hard, what is it with fighting games and ridiculous bosses ><

I've disabled the easy special buttons to avoid picking up bad habits and I'm gonna use score attack as practice from now on to get my inputs sorted out.

First off I am not a huge fighting game fan and I haven't played any of the games in the Guilty Gear series. Would it take ages for me to get into this and learn the basics?

Just to second what other people have already said, I was in the same boat as you and I'm absolutely loving this game. I'd say it took me about 2 or 3 weeks to get a handle on things.

It's actually the first ever 2D fighter that I have dedicated time to, stuff like KOF and SF has appealed to me but those games have been around for so long that you're at an instant disadvantage as a newcomer. I knew I'd have a really hard time here too, but after a lot of online matches I could eventually hold my own and feel in control of what I was doing.

I'd really recommend playing online ASAP, the AI just doesn't play the same as a human and online is a real learning experience (you learn the hard way, but you learn!). A lot of people seem to have tried 2 or 3 online fights, lost horribly and never gone back to it - thing is that everyone starts out that way. A win percentage of 30-40% seems average.

Took it upstiars into big airy room, windows, front door open, fan still came on blasting, only benefit was that when i returned to the xmb, it shut off a lot quicker, but that was the only thing, even my bloody mother commentated on how loud and off putting it was, and boy she doesnt know jack!

However, found my recipt, its out of warrenty by 3 months but just rang Sony, they said as a sign of good faith and such they would honor the warrenty and replace it for free, so i just have to fax over my recipt and job done. Going to head to get that done today and see how i get on with their refurb.


Must remember to clear off all my japanese accounts and such before i send it back hehe

Everyone sucks in the beginning, you've only had a handful of player matches experience.. keep at it and you'll find your way!
