That's probably what I like best about it - that you can attack it any way you want. I didn't open any of the hidden classes up until I'd finished the story once.

The benefits of transmigration are pretty simple, despite the fact that most guides seem to go out of their way to make it sound confusing. You know when you create a new character? They get a set of fixed stats and a few 'free' stats that you get to distribute yourself. When you transmigrate a character, they go back down to lvl1 but you get a higher number of free stats to play around with. The number of free stats is based on your stored level.

Stored level = SaY I've got Laharl at lvl1000. When I transmigrate him, he'll go back to lvl1 and his stored level will become 1000. I might get about 18 free stat points to distribute (dunno the exact number, but it doesn't matter). Now, I take him all the way back up to lvl1000 again and decide to transmigrate him once again. This time, he's got another 1000 stored levels, which takes his total store up to 2000. The real benefit is evident in the new number of free stats I get, say 30.

Now forget that stuff for a second and think about normalk levelling. Because your character's stats increase each time you level him up is based on his stats at lvl1, transmigration means that one lvl1000 character can be significantly more powerful than another if he's been transmigrated a few times.

There's a limit on the number of stored levels you can have, which is 185,000, iirc.

By all means experiment with transmigration for yourself, but the free stat gain that you'll experience through doing it at lvl28 or whatever will be more or less pointless.

Was 400 hours? WTF did you do, lose your memory card?

I've got the game sitting up stairs in my bedroom, in a drawer. It's just sitting there, but I don't have a PS2 unfortunately, so I've got **** all to do now I've finished my exams, and I have to save up my money to travel. I've read the manual 4 times.

This is hell. I'm going to play Yu-Gi-Oh in protest.

Saur, not to compete against Marty, but could you post a pic of your main char, I'm interested to check him out

What is the counter value - 3 in Marty's picture.

Saur/Marty/Randy, if i'm on Chapter 10, how far am i away from the cave of ordeals?

I found that teh Jutenheim - Terrible Cold map is the best atm for a straight forward fast lvl up. I'm sure it was mentioned earlier in the thread, but piling all the chars into a single lvl 130+ cat and using laharl to keep it in the 1 none-invincible tile and knacker it down to something your chosen brer for lvl up to kill. Easy.

I think the problem is that laharl is at lvl 43 and the rest are at lvl 34 and below.

My red mage was lvl 22 and within 3 turns of that map, she was at lvl 42 with Omega Fire specail gained^^

        Spoilers----->
I love Gordon, Thursday and Jennifer. Thursday calling Gordon a pervert. Thusday a blatant Lost in Space rip-off. And Gordon, flash anybody? Brilliant story, i'm always amused. "Keep that sexy body away from me!"

Nips, This copy of disgaea and PS2 aint even mine. I just thank the overlord that my uncle works too much to play it himself

          Well, I am still playing.

I am working through a piece of gum in item world at the moment so I can transfer the speciallists to a common sword I just worked thorugh. I'll see where I go from there.

What IS gum for? I really don't know.

Gum is pretty handy for bribing dark assembly members, look out for the rarer gums as they can be handy in getting things passed.

I am now at the start of chapter 6 and the cave of ordeals is accessible, if I can get the bloody assembly to pass it.........

So the cave of ordeals is only available thru the assembly?

You have to unlock these through the Council - it's not a matter of going through the story line.

Saur - Geo changing only works in Item World - all other maps are fixed, so I'm trying to work out how you managed to do this in the Baal map.

It doesn't matter what you use in actual fact, just as long as the council members like it. Gum as far as I recall revives SP or HP. Ultimately bribing the council becomes useless as it's very difficult to pass high level resolutions, Best thing is just to pass them via combat.

I was reading up on bribing senators a while back, and - like a lot of stuff in here - it's actually pretty simple once you understand it. Senators are interested in an item's rank (check the Weapon Rank FAQ on GameFAQs for a chart). The senators' desires work on a cycle based on this rank.

When you try to bribe a senator with an item, you'll be told how much that senator likes it. Let's say one loathes whatever it is you're offering. Check the item's rank. I'm not sure exactly what the cycle is, so you'll have to search through the GameFAQs message board for the correct thread (rather you than me), but the basic principle is that they'll react to an item of the next rank with a "does not want", then the next rank with a "not interested", the next with an "interested", and so on. It might not be the next rank up, it might work on a cycle of changing reaction every two or three jumps in item rank, but you should be able to find that out with a bit of reloading and retrying.

Much easier to just beat the crap out of them, obviously. Only problem with that is that (SPOILER)

you won't then be able to get the good ending until your next run through the story.

I "hate" this game. I can't stop playing it. Decided a few minutes ago that enough is enough and I really ought to think about going to bed... nearly 2:30!!

I have been using the Rich Demons room to improve my party (now theres unusual... me levelling up). My Red Mage is now up to Level 23 and the Star Mage up to Level 22. They seem the most useful certainly. The Golem is now up to Level 14 and my recently created Ronin is up to Level 17 or 18 and has some good stats. Item World is going to be that much easier.

I had to abandon my last run through. I made the mistake of putting my Level 22 (as she was then) Red Mage on a Clone tile and suddenly got a Level 22 Red Mage to contend with. Basically there was very little I could do as I could inflict very little damage. I had to quit. Fortunately I was only on the 12th Level having commenced at 11 after moving in some more speciallists.

Should get yourself some Mr Clancy's Exits, then you can get out at any time.

With those levels Bassman forget lavish hall for now, do the Jotenheim chapter then keep going back to terrible cold, you can stack all the enemies there into a level 125ish one. The kicker is that all the squares on the map are invincible bar one - you get the idea

Half day work yesterday (love that flexitime!) I played pretty much solid from 1.30pm through to 11pm (other than picking up the niper from school, making food and fetching beers from the fridge). I'm now 20 hours in, Laharl Lv. 42, Brawler 27, Ronin, 26, Warrior 25 and a load of others around 18 to 20. I don't have any mages yet so that's something to play around with.

Quick question for you guys - I created a theif but can't equip a stealing hand on him, what gives?

                          Comment

You don't equip stealing hands - you have to use them via the item menu. If the steal is successful then the stealing hand is used up, else it gets returned to your inventory and you can try using it again.

That's not true - a senator kill does not count as an ally kill, so won't stop you getting that.

Superbrother - chapter 10-4 (exp +100 geo tiles and loads of enemies, think it's 10-4 anyway) is also very good for lvl'ing.
