The problem I have with the 360 is there is nothing to keep me wanting to play on the damn 360 I mean yeah there is Oblivion, but Im a JRPG player and then there is GRAW... but i'll get that in the next month or so... I would prefer if they sorted the damn b/c I want to play Conkers Bad Fur Day again.

But the only 'real issue' I had with the 360 was the odd crash ironically after the last major update... didn't kill my console tho....phew

My mate Camster99's 360 bit the bullet on Saturday - he said it was making funny noises for a few days then the dreaded "3 red lights of doom" struck !

To say he was gutted would be an understatement - he asked the guy on the phone if this was a common problem and says the guy hesitated before stating "we're not allowed to say" - doesn't bode well.

my mate's 360 ate his quake4 disc... he was showing me the disc had a funny 'bump' on the outer edge when i pointed out the crack on the inside of it. he wasn't too happy about it, think it's the 3rd time he's had a new disc in as many weeks.

mine's behaving so far... had the odd crash but i learned not to press the guide button when it was 'thinking' about things and it seems ok now.

I'm not surprised yours is ok, all you ever do is watch dvd's & play music on it!! We were all playing COD2 yesterday. Where were you?!!!!!

What is the current thinking on the March update killing 360s? I haven't updated mine yet but I'm a little wary as so far it's running fine.

I've downloaded all updates so far and have not had any problems at all.

I got a premium 360 and Oblivion on saturday and It's crashed several times. Most of them were freezes, but a couple were "disk cannot be read" errors

Well there goes my launch 360.It's as dead as dead can be! went to play oblivion earlier, and i got these small white rectangles all across the screen.I did'nt load the game,it just sat there in the dashboard.I thought it might just be a slight hiccup,so i reset the machine and i did'nt even manage to get past the 360 logo before crashing and now i've got blue rectangles across the screen.

Long story short,i tried a few more times and it got worse.Then.....one more try and the red lights of doom appear.Game over for my 360

Have i got any kind of warranty with gameplay? i bought the machine from them when it launched back in december, but i don't know wether they will replace it for a new one or not.Anybody know?

Phone Microsoft mate, they'll get a coffin out to you and a replacement in a few days.

Not as far as I know, mine was brand spanking new.

Some are reported to be refurbished units.

My second one is going to die I think, just a mater of time. The DVD drive has always sounded different to my 1st machine, and has now started to occassionally make a clicking noise when trying to access disk data. When it starts doing this the game either freezes for a few seconds but eventually continues once the data is found, or crashes to dash with a dirty disk error.

Its happened to me twice now over the last few days on Oblivion, which I think is aggrevating the problem with the amount of loading which is going on. It originally did this on GRAWF, however I was hoping this was just some obscure UBI bug, but allas it does not seem that it is.

I'm just hoping the machine makes it till May, and I can get someone to do the old Coffin job while I'm away on Holiday, so I don't have any unneccessary down time

This replacement I received in February and it is a end December machine. I've presumed that it was new as the machine was spottless. The refurbs seemed to be more in the States, with some folks getting scratch/scuffed machines returned to them !

edit : The machine sounds like it would be scratching the disk, but it is not which is one bonus. My old machine put hairline scratches all over my disks, but made no noises at all !
