360 Issues thread

I've had the system crash on me 3 times today now, back to horizontal I guess...

There are 61 pages of posts here. I'm vaguely thinking of getting a 360 but I seem to be hearing a lot of bad things (like in the RR7 thread in the Headlines section). Can anyone give me a quick rundown - are there serious problems with the 360?

Righty, basically if you are lucky you might never suffer a crash or suffer a crash every other day.

If you are unlucky your console will die. It certainly is the most crash prone console I've ever owned, but its so bloody great I can overlook it.

Yeah, from what I've seen it seems to be good but would the 41% be about accurate in the poll for problems or is it just that people with problems just seem to be replying and the figure is much less in reality? I guess that's hard to know...dying consoles are a pretty bad thing in general though.

I think it partly depends how you define "issues". I've had the odd glitchy-lock-up-freezey thing happen - but nothing that has unduly concerned me.

Well, apart from losing one disc to the dreaded ring of death that is.

Mind you, that was due to a 360 standing-vertically-non-wireless hoovering incident courtesy of Mrs G! The necessary precautions are now in place to prevent a repeat occurrence.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy it all over again if I had to. But that's me.

From my experience it seems to be a case of rushed games having problems more than the 360 itself, though I could be wrong. Ridge 6 seems to crash loads, I reckon it's because of the multiple routes, if I try one way it occasionally crashes every time, then I go a different way and I have no problem. PDZ crashed a couple of times and COD2 has issues, though that's definitely down to the developers, I'm sure.

I've had no problems with any of my other games though - PGR3, Condemned, Kameo, GR : AW and the Quake 4 bonus disc with Quake 2 on it.

Maybe someone should do a poll with options for what exactly went wrong, whether it was just specific games crashing, every game, the console dying or whay have you.

Mine has completely died, crashed whilst listening to some music the other day, and ever since it lasts about 30 seconds before just crashing again. Done all of micro$ofts soloutions to no effect.

I've been pro evo less for weeks now, wish microsoft would have sorted this out .... 5 months then bang one day it dies.

Mine's a launch machine, and it's crashed exactly twice - once in a CoD2 lobby and once during King Kong, which I assume was its crappy code, not the 360.

had a replacement machine two weeks ago after my launch machine died on me(red lights),now the replacement 360 has been sent back.Currently waiting on my 3rd machine now

just wondering if the 360's fan is supposed to be continuous? after a certain amount of time mine cut out. (after 3 hours on Oblivion). Started again after a re-boot ok though

Got home from work today, switched on my 360...about 10 minutes later it crashed. Now every time I boot I'm getting the same as Simmy. Managed to get it booted to dash once in about 25 tries, but it crashed about ten minutes later.

Great timing eh, right on a bank holiday

edit - it does seem to boot up to dash occasionally, only had the ring of death once.

edit 2 - completely gone now. Getting the ring of death every time it boots.

I'm totally shocked how quickly it has gone from a perfectly fine console (crashed five times max since launch, mostly with DoA4) to completely useless in the space of a few hours. Worked 100% fine yesterday and all week, has shown no signs of fault.

At least it didn't happen when Oblivion was released...

If you used your reward card you can call them up and get them to send the store proof of purchase
