that nyko thing, surely wouldn't work as there's already fans in the 360? if the nyko's fans are spinning faster than the 360s then isn't there just more resistance from the existing fans?

i haven't got my science head on this morning but something tells me it wouldn't work as well as taking out the 360 fans completely and using the nyko unit (assuming they're more efficient).

i was thinking something similar myself, although what i was wondering was this:

if you stick a battery to a motor, it'll spin (duh), but if you connect a motor to a lamp and spin it the lamp will turn on.

now, if these three extra fans are more powerful than the ones in the machine, their sucking might speed up the fans that are already there, causing the motors of those fans to generate their own current, which can't be good.

it's been bugging me for yonks, but i'm sure the engineers/etc who've actually devised this thing have already thought about that (or know that it's not an issue or something).

personally i'm gonna wait for those new fans some company is making that are faster/quieter than the regular ones (although they have blue lights which i'm gonna try turning off) and you simply swap out your old ones for the new ones. of course i'm probably the only one here who'll do that considering you guys still have your shiny warranties

LOL, my brother's 360 died at the weekend and it just got picked up to be repaired. When the UPS guy saw what it was he went "oh God, not another Xbox". Must happen a lot

            360 dying.

i bought my 360 in january from fleabay and so far no problems. But since friday ive been getting repeat crashes all the time and freezes. I was wondering if anyone has had this done to them and can suggest anything. Will i be able to send it backto ms as its from fleabay?

you sure can. i managed to register a whole five machines to my name in one sitting and there wasn't a problem. they did ask what on earth i was doing with five 360's though

you just ring them, tell them it's crashing (ideally, you'd want the 3 flashing red rings), then they'll register the console to you when you give them the serial number.

heck, in my case, one of the 360's had already been registered so the guy actually phoned the original owner to make sure and then transferred the registration over to me!

So are there any confirmed advantages to getting a replacement machine - i.e. have they revised the cooling system for example? And how do you get round the problem of losing your saved games?

I think a lot of people send away the console but keep hold of the HD even though MS actually ask for the whole lot back they don't seem too bothered. I wouln't fancy loosing all my saves, and having to do all the downloads again.

                            Microsoft update issues confirmed

Ive just been on the phone to organise a pick up for my 360 but spoke tio the most helpful Microsoft representitve ive ever spoke to.

He stated that there have so far been 2000 reported cases of the update causeing the 3red lights issues and 97% of those people where using a vga cable. So far MS have no idea what caused it but he told me that if i no anyone who is going to update try switching to componet/standard cable while updating to be on the safe side. I was very impressed with the service they offer and am very satisfied with the customer service of a big company for once Tops+++

MS's customer service to be fair is pretty top notch, they are largely clueless, however they are nice which means a lot!
I suppose we can expect another update soon.

I'm going to update tomorrow. Does this mean I should use my component cable whilst updating and then I can switch back to the VGA cable once its done? I don't fancy the 3 red lights as I'm due an early copy of Over G Fighters, which I'm really looking forward to playing.
                                Kept you waiting, huh?
