These are the best graphics I have seen on a console or PC in a long time. Well done Kojima, well done Konami. I thought the current generation of hardware didnt have anything left to show and little room to dazzle the eyes. I am so glad that I am wrong. Simply amazing.

I doubt the real deal will look that good. It never does.

I'd expect jaggies, a lower resolution, and certainly not as much lighting.

Don't forget the frame rate chugging!

I wasn't overly blown away, we've seen things more impressive than that before.
Very clever choice to set it at night time in the rain:
You don't need to show background detail
It doesn't matter if everything is all rubbery and wet looking because that's how things look in the rain.

The engine shots posted earlier in the thread don't look quite as funky in daytime lighting.

Plus with this one being blatantly running from an unspecified PC, I'm sure everything will be scaled back for PS3/360 IF it ends up coming out for those machines.

It could just be that the Fox Engine is a well put together piece of software and gets an extra x% out of the hardware. I think it looks great and while I think that it will indeed not look as good in the daytime scenes the physics that seemed to be in play and the facial detail really stood out for me.

I really need to finish MGS3, MGS4, and maybe a looksy a the original MSX games. Every time I see Snake, I get excited. I dunno if it's the gruff lyrics he pours down my front or the beardy head stuck on a slim sneaking suit. I'm hyped.

One of the greatest characters ever, surrounded in thick, but crazy mixed up plot.

Off-topic: I think the whole MGS world would be better unraveled in TV series A movie may not be enough time. Like Prometheus, if they try to wedge loads of vague-ish information without the other vital informations, then it could be a solo movie (if it does plop) that just confuses. Unless, of course, it's going to be Expendables stylie.

In all fairness the metal gears have always been shown in game and it has always looked as good if on release so there's no need to doubt them on the graphics front.

Not sure that I'm that interested.. Apart from MGS1 I've not enjoyed any of them. But I'll be buggered if I can put a finger on why exactly that is.

Quite. Just remember how awesome the 2008 MGS4 looked. Kojima's team are in a different class to most.

Of course it isn't. You need to give Win 7 a gig just to get going! Console OSs don't need anything like that amount of RAM though. All it needs to have is the same free RAM. It's not *that* difficult to create a PC environment that emulates a rough spec of a console. Until it's out we won;t know I guess but I believe Kojima & Co can do it!

I think they can definitely pull this off. I was talking to the guys at work about their engine and we think it's certainly possible to achieve that visual standard (with obvious trickery) on a console. Will be exciting to see - im definitely not in any rush for the next set of consoles :-)
