Isn't latency the reason why broadcom and nintendo developed an alternative to the TCP/IP, which gets rid of some bottlenecks, for their Wii U controller?
For Cloud gaming to really work you have to replace the old protocol and that won't be easy.

Even replacing the protocol wouldn't be enough, in the end it still takes an amount of time for light to go from one place to the other and get processed. Once everyone has a straight fiber connection from their home, straight into a fiber backend at an exchange, which is connected via fiber straight to the backbone, then yes you could probably do it.

That's probably a good 10 - 20 years off at the moment though.

Cloud gaming is fine for CASUAL pleb gamers but not for the HARDCORE like we all are here.

They have to be lying about profits, its been revealed the GPU is around the Radeon HD 4650/4670 area so everything in it is not that expensive.

How have they been lying about profits exactly? It still costs money to R&D a console an get it to market, there is a lot more to it than just the GPU ...

How am I trolling when I have a Wii-U? You know I do, you are on my friend list. I don't care it what it costs my money is already in there mitts. it was earlier in the thread where Nintendo are claiming to make a loss, it must be R+D like you suggest as it doesn't seem to be what's in it. I'm not knocking the machine I think it's great fun and have had loads of enjoyment fom mine I'm just saying (like others) the claim they are loosing money may seem a little ingenuous when you look at what's inside it as in a revised Wii CPU which itself is revised up from a GameCube, a gig or two of ram and a mid range graphics set oh and a tablet controller.

Not at all ... its a highly customized GPU so there is no real way of knowing what its capable of ... sadly the sort of half arsed journalism that Euro-gamer do doesn't really help the matter.

In the end it will be all about the games, as long as the WiiU has a fair amount of exclusives (and not shovelware) over its lifetime it really doesn't matter one way or the other how much 'behind the curve' they are.

Its a bargain basement gpu, with cutbacks... and the cpu is recyled from 2 gens ago. Nintendo are talking out their arse if they are seriously making out they are taking a loss on each console sold.

There take offense at that, all this ridiculous apologetic approach to offending some on this thread is a complete joke.

I fully intend to buy a WiiU when it hits the ?200 mark, but even then it wont mean that i will suddenly never again critisize nintendo.

People need to stop behaving like this thread is all about nintendo positivity, its a discussion thread...be it good, bad or ugly.

I was in Cex yesterday and they are coming down with traded in WiiUs.
Even at ?240 for the 32GB I'm still not tempted.

Which is what i stated as soon as they made the announcement. Nintendo have never, and all the figures are about, made a loss on a console, even from launch, they always make a profit on everything, its the very core of the company and backbone on how they run as a business, and it makes sense, i get that. However making quite public fibs stating the opposite i do take a beef with.
