I'm wondering whether this is from pressure from other parties (cough... Nintendo) to limit the availability of retroarch and emulation in general in return for oooh goldeneye being released.

Outside of actual developers developing anything the only other main reason to pay for the license is to run emulation... after 4+ years of MS not caring too much it seems like a coincidence that now they're doing a small banhammer update.

That would make sense. Thankfully I steer to PC for emu on the rare occasion I use it, that Series X does it is amazing though

Ubisoft+ is coming to Xbox as well. Though they stop short of stating whether that means it's included in game pass or just an extra subscription... time will tell.

It’s been confirmed it will be a separate subscription from game pass.

Just saw that MVG has made a video about this. I haven’t received an e-mail from Microsoft yet about my dev access being disabled, but I guess it’s just a matter of time

Edit: Apparently you can just download/run the emulators through the web browser on the Xbox. I think I heard about this before but forgot about it/thought it wasn't as good as going into dev mode. Live and learn I guess.

Yep, the requirement to release software developed through DevMode means they can both remove access to it and claim they're not removing it at the same time.

Side thought - Still a reasonable amount of time but curious as to whether STALKER2 comes out or is delayed as it's very quiet on that game

The last we heard they were ruining it with NFTs, and then they weren't... but agree it's radio silence beyond that.

That's either a good thing or...

It'll be out this year I'm sure. If they are in a position to think about ramming NFTs into it, the game is probably quite far along.

Can't imagine that's going to sell terribly well given their catalogue of titles and price greater than Xbox Ultimate - I don't think they have the yearly releases to justify the costs, unless you're going to treat it as one off monthly rental.

I've played Extraction, tho under NDA, but I'd say stick with R6 Siege.
