Just got given a couple of handy apps for my Pod from a mate.
The first one is called "iPodLibrary12b" which cuts ebooks etc up into handy chapters as the ipod will only show a certain amount of text regardless of how much you put in notes.
The second one is called "SharePod" which is just a .exe which you dump onto the pods drive so you can upload and share music with any pc. Just conect the pod to a pc look in the pod drive run the .exe and upload any tracks etc.
    kinda handy I thought

Apple AC adapters are ALWAYS multi voltage... 100 - 220V or something like that.

My iBook and 3rd gen iPod have been plugged into outlets in the US without any issues. You just need to appropriate travel adapter.

Can I use my Ipod to carry documents from 6th form to Home? Or is it just Pictures?

Yeah man you can set it up to be a portable hard drive. I use it for that very reason.

You could even put pron on it i suppose.

Im going on this purely from memory because my iPod is on charge but i think you connect your iPod to your PC and then in iTunes right click on it (your iPod)and it should bring up a list of options. Its in there somewhere.

Highlight the ipod in the list and then hit the ipody logo thingy down on the bottom right and then activate "disk use"

is there any way of convincing an iPod to display filenames?

alternatively, is there a good mp3 tag batch editor?

Ah please help! This driving me nuts, I've installed Itunes, and I have it up on my PC now, however, it doesn't seem to be recognising my ipod is plugged in. Windows XP keeps wanting me to install it as a mass storage device, would I be right that I don't want to install it as a mass storage device? I thought I best ask here before I do anything, so can i get my ipod to come up? I'm it with the usb cable, thanks alot, if someone could help me and my ipod starts to work, i'll be over the moon

If you manage the mp3s in iTunes it is quite easy to manage the filenames, or if you just want a simple ID3 tagger check out http://www.softpointer.com/tr.htm - It can do a cddb lookup, or even match to amazon's track listing's and ID3 your MP3s from there

                              Great eh?

I had a bunch of pre-existing mp3s that needed tagging based on file name - the foobar masstagger came closest to doing the job in the end.

I've been using CDex (does cddb) and EphPod instead of iTunes, they run about twice as fast for me.
