Anyone have any ideas as to what (besides the obvious switchbox is crap etc.) might be causing this?
God knows man. I'm looking into VGA switch boxes myself so I'd better be careful.

The switcher might not be electromagnetically sheilded, try moving it away from any other wires and/or power points and seee if that helps

Guys me and the wife are going lcd shopping on saturday

Im think the samsung 32R41BD is the best bet as i can get one for 950 with 5 yrs insurance

Or possibly the panasonic LD60 32 inch anyone got any views over these two, im think sammy coz i want to hook up my new pc to it but ive heard some peeps say its a budget lcd

If you had 1k and wanted to buy a 26" or 32" what would you buy?

Try to scrape an extra ?200 together and buy the Toshiba 32WLT58, myself - I like it for the built-in stand (which you don't get with most LCDs); balancing an LCD on a tabletop with a toddler around is asking for trouble.

Of course, this may not be relevant to you. I don't think the Panasonic has a VGA port, so if you're hooking up a PC you'll need a DVI-HDMI lead, which is worth bearing in mind.

hmm see i was planning on putting it on my big wooden unit anyways as it holds all my games and dvds and stuff in nice drawers,

yeah panasonic i think is going to be binned

Unless someone knows that DVI-HDMI is better than DVI-VGA?

Righty. I have a quick Q for you guys.
My new flatmate owns a Samsung LW26A33W (what it says on the manual) LCD TV. It does do HD, and has a DVI connection, VGA (Simply labelled PC) but no component.

Any way to hook up a 360 to it in HD? Also, what should I be getting to get a decent TV picture too? Freeview box?

360 does HD via either Component or VGA, sounds like VGA is the only way.

Component is rubbish - Tons of noise over flat colour areas. VGA is perfect.

If I had to rush out and get something this week I'd probably try very hard to find the XD500 model from Panasonic. It's being replaced by a 600 series model in April or May - it's essentially the LD60s big brother. The new model of course means the XD500 could be had for a good price (probably in the ?1300 region for the 32 inch) providing you could find one. It has VGA.

The 500 series LCD from Panasonic is really the only LCD image I have seen, next to a well calibrated Bravia from Sony, that I could live with for multi-functional use be it gaming, TV, DVD or HD...etc. If they did a model above 32" I'd probably own one.

26inch model is ?879 from these folks

There is this new JVC too, 32 inches and ?1069 form this retailer. 2hdmi, component, scart, VGA, yadda yadda. Not seen this in the flesh though so can?t comment on performance:

Cheers for the rplies guys, also, the VGA seems to have a hole next to it, some kind of seperate audio. Anyone know if the VGA cable for the 360 works this way?

Also, I think the manual said the "correct" resolution to set your PC to it while using VGA is 1280x7xx (Cant never remember the last 2 digits) is that a bad thing? seems small for hi-res.

No probs. The spec is certainly good isn?t it? Attractive design too. It'll do 1:1 mapping over its VGA input as well. Pop over to AVForums as there's a thread (actually started by Lyris funnily enough) here that's got them all talking about it, with input from those who have taken the plunge and got one.

Not really, current HD is 1280x720 (hence the name '720p'), so that makes sense.
Your screen will be either 1280x720, 1280x768 or 1366x768.

Your probably thinking of 1080i or 1080p - such screens cost mad prices right now.
