Samsung LE32R51BD arrived today! and i love it
SUch a clear picture on it, the digital inbuilt tuner picked up every channel available, which was a shock as im in a tenement with a communal ariel, even with that the signal strength is still in the 80s!
Plugging my pc into it just now via s-video (new rig arrives on wed for DVI-VGA link) and the quality is superb, watching dvds and playing COD2 on it looks fantastic
Even my PS2 which has been abandoned looks the diddies through component on this one
Maybe im overly pleased as this is my first look at digital telly but i must say i give this one 10 out of 10!!!Comment

Anybody care to comment on the differences ? I gather the R has a 12m/s response rather than the 8 of the M and there's a big difference in the contrast ratios.
Also, anybody know about backlight control ? I gather the M can automatically detect the light levels in the room and adjust accordingly ???Comment

Yoshi I've got the LE40M61B. The M panels do seem to be different to the R panels, with the 61 possibly being different again to the 51, but there is no specific information out there from Samsung on what the differences are, with one Samsung source contradicting another. I have seen the LE40R in action however and although it is good, it is nothing on my M model, and thats comparing out of the box un calibrated pictures.
The backlight adjustment which you are talking about, I believe would be the brightness sensor which does adjust the picture according to different light in the room. Think the R does this the same as the M though, and it is very much brightness and not back light.
All I can say is I love my set, and touch wood have had no problems with it. The picture is stunning on DVD and Freeview, and sublime for games as you would expect.
