Britain is not a nation with good taste. ie EA games, ignore gamecube, use composite connection and wear crap clothes.

Just emigrate if you can afford it.

Don't forget we can't alway get the best out of hardware as we are not richer enough. ie I haven't got proper Dolby Digital 5.1 set up yet. I use PC speakers which support Dolby Digital Surround 2.0 and subwoofer. It is ok for DVDs and gaming on xbox.

This year I am planning to upgrade my DVD player to Denon 1920, then get an amp and speakers and XBOX 360 and refunish my bedroom and replace my PC and hopefully have enough for PS3 and revolution. But it can't be done quickly.

Affording it's the easy bit. It's finding work and making all new friends that's hard.

Talk about bad taste - you need to come to Burnley man, you'll kill yourself within 10 minutes!

Wiggled the cable in the back of the player and WHAMMY it worked again
Got the same problem with mine, if I so much as touch the DVD player while it is off then the HDMI seems to disconnect itself and will not provide a picture next time the player is used. I wondered if it was something to do with this autodetection the machine says it does in the manual, for HDMI.

Is this a bad time to confess that I can't be bothered to wire my XBox back up to the perfectly lovely 5.1 seperates setup in the living room, and just use TV sound when I'm playing games?

thing is, the vast majority stick them in the corner anyway completely negating the point in having a 'flat' tv as it'll stand pround as much as the crt it replaces!...

Well, that's true to a fair extent. I wouldn't say the vast majority, but a lot of them.

When I eventually get myself an LCD screen there's going to be a good 18" plus of space behind it too, becausee no matter how thing they make the TV, I've still got the depth of the cabinet containing the NTL box, centre speaker, video and so on to worry about.

vast majority of lcd screens i see are still wedged into the corner... i've fitted loads and seen ones being replaced, only in very few occasions has it been flat against the wall.

like dave gets annoyed, it does bother me... another thing is people with 5.1 systems who've the speakers in bizarre places like the centre above the left/right speaker etc.

I've figured out that is is actually the port into the back of my TV, or perhaps(hopefully) a poor fitting cheap HDMI cable?

But is definately when plugged into the back of the TV, because I have to wiggle it around, half pull it out by like a mm to make it work

Oh yes, I've seen a fair bit of that. But then, it's a nightmare trying to work out where best to stick them when the screen is in a corner, and there's sofas along two walls.

We have that problem downstairs. We used to have the telly in the center, allowing the speakers to be 'correctly' positioned, but since moving it into the corner, you can't position them at the right place. I've given up on it, and avoid using the telly downstairs for much viewing.

Haha, great ranting there from Mr Fallows - puts a smile on my face for this afternoon.

For the record, I don't even know where composite is on my LCD.

                            Guys

Just been round to my m8s house to view his new Samsung LE32R41BDX

holy xxxx! i nearly cacked myself at how lovely this thing is!

Superb display with real sharpness and no ghosting, or any of the problems with displaying black, or picking up to much out of the standard ariel

He was running it using the digital feed into the freeview built into the tv and Ive never seen a picture so sharp on an LCD

My dads got a 32 inch sharp aquos and the picture is no where near as sharp, i was impressed with everything this samsung had to offer

So much so that once the wife gets home im bugging her till i get one

But did you buy need for speed AND fifa as your only 360 games?
