Garf-I know a lot of people have been raving about the Acer AL1916WS which will set you back ?180ish. As the model name suggests it is a 19" widescreen, I think it is VGA only though.

Cool - cheers for that. It's now silly question time If I use a monitor that doesn't have any built in speakers, what are the best options for getting sound out of the 360 ? Will I need some sort of speaker setup ?

You will indeed, I'm sure some of the others can recommend you speakers. I'm not much of an audiophile, I have a pair of ?20 speakers for my PC and use the built in ones on my HDTV when playing games

If you're using the VGA cable, it has stereo phono outputs and the adaptor to mini jack. Just using some standard PC speakers would work perfectly well, or you could get carried away and plug it into a proper stereo system.

Nice one - I've seen a half decent pair for about 20 quid, so if I also get the monitor it looks like 360 gaming goodness is coming my way.

I'm looking to replace my current VGA monitor with a new one that supports DVI w/ HDCP for Visa.

Nice res, and also doubles up as a second HDTV. HD-Ready certified.

If it's anything like the 17" 75, the 205 will be a cracking set. The only thing that is that if you plan to use it for say the 360, it'll be doing some scaling, whereas the 75 is 1280x768 and can run 720p natively, although it may not really make much difference.

XBlack is an excellent technology for smaller screens, and really adds to the depth of the image if there's some light in the room.

EDIT: I see Sony Europe got to this one; they've replaced the Component inputs with SCART from the looks of it.

Cheers for the feedback mate. Just looking at my options, since I'm going to need to ditch the screen soon in favour of a HDCP-capable one, and I'm looking at no bigger than 20"-ish (as it's crammed onto my desk right next to my LCD TV).
Probably better to get a dedicated LCD monitor w/ HDCP, since they tend to come in higher resolutions, and I use my other screen for video anyway... but I'll see what's avaliable at the time.

Another Q, anyone know a UK retailer selling the Toshiba HD-DVD player? Not that I intend to get one yet, but I can see myself making the jump as soon as titles appear that I want.
(Anyone who can comment on the upscaling compared to the Oppo, please do!).

Anybody got anything bad to say about the Samsung LE26R41BDX 26"? Is there a 'better' option around which can bought in the highstreet?

Just wanted some feedback before I splash the cash on Saturday...

One thing i would say about it is I just thought it was too small m8, if your going to set up in a small place then tahts fine but i was setting mine up in the living room and im glad i got the 32" cos the 26 just looked tiny

It is for the lounge, the TV we have in there at the moment has approximately the same size screen - but was made in the 60's and cuts off the sides of everything that is shown on it, which is funny for about 30 seconds of a subtitled film...

Jumping to a 32" will just be too far out of my budget unfortunately - unless I can persuade the missus to chuck in a couple of hundred pounds...doubtful...

ah no worries m8 i went from a 22" or something and it does look massive but you get used to it

size aside i love the telly its superb and im using it with a 360, pc and ps2 and its all superb

should be slightly reduced now as well as the new models are out

Genius!!!

I wonder if the people at Sony of Europe have any knowledge of how to hook stuff up to an LCD display whatsoever. Even their new BRAVIAs have 1 HDMI input when all the competing manufacturers (except Samsung) offer 2 as standard.

This monitor arrived a few days ago - very happy with it.

Hooked it up with the official VGA cable, and a set of 2.1 speakers, and am more than pleased with the result.

I know some people have complained about the washed out colours that VGA produces, but to my uneducated eye, it looks sweet.

I might post up a few piccies later.

Just bought the new model Samsung HD TV 28". My jaw is on the floor watching the kickoff scene in Cashern. Not sussed out how to tune it in to Sky yet though...

The black frame is so shiny - like having a giant PSP >_< Time to plug in a console or two!!!
