I got that Scars on Broadway and it's really good. Thanks!

I noticed that they use the "We're on drugs.... weeee're ooon drugs" in one of their songs. It really bugged me for ages but it suddenly dawned on me that they used to sing it during SOAD live shows about 4-5 years ago

I bought the new Tricky CD earlier in the week and it's really got me back into his stuff again. I'd forgotten just how good he was and there are some really good tracks on the new CD, one of my favourites is Council Estate.

        Tricky "Council Estate"

        Tricky "Black Steel"

I've started listening to The Go! Team again in preparation for October.

        The Go! Team "Ladyflash"

The Go! Team "Get it Together"

It's good that it's been confirmed that they are doing a few tracks for LittleBigPlanet as their music just seems perfect for the game to me.

Since when did Portishead sound like this!?

DO want! Sounds like late-80s Skinny Puppy with female vox. This was a recent single by all accounts. Did they release an album like this yet?

That's off the new'un, 'Third'. Whole album isn't quite like that though, if anything that track sticks out a little but both the track and the album are fantastic imo. There's an official video on Youtube called something like "Portishead in Portishead" where they play a whole bunch of tracks off it live which is probably as good a way to sample it as any.

The new Portishead disc is quite a reinvention, and one that works. Don't stone me to death, but I actually prefer it to 'Dummy'. :O

I'm currently listening to Head over Heels by Cocteau Twins.

I am currently rocking out to the greatest hits of Dire Straits - off into town later to buy myself a headband/sweatband combo.

Yup, totally agree- it's the best thing they've done. Seeing them live a couple of months ago was amazing too. When Beth finally started singing after the massive intro of Silence, the whole place went ballistic.

Recently, I've been listening to the new Breeders record, Mountain Battles, loads. It's ace.

Had Naked City's debut album and Television - The Blow-Up on today. Been ages since I've listened to any Television.

Not sure about putting it above Dummy but I do love it so and can only see myself loving it more over time.

I saw them a few months back too, I think I fell in love with Beth that night

Early Depeche Mode - Speak And Spell and A Broken Frame. Despite a bit of embarrassing fluff, there's lots of wicked stuff on there.

Damn right, if you can look past the fluff they did wicked cool synth work.

Yeah, gotta love Depeche Mode. Love their stuff. First tune i remember that caught me back in the early 80s, was Everything Counts. Been listening to them ever since..! You should try, Construction Time Again, Some Great Reward and Black Celebration, JazzFunk..

^Yeah, I've been a massive fan since about 1990, got all their stuff, but haven't listened to them that much in recent years. I still think 'Violator' is one of the best albums ever made.

MattyD, you're right about the synth work - way ahead of its time. 'Nothing To Fear' - what a tune.
