So some new series' are getting subbed. Kiba episode 1 has been subbed by some new groups. Aria the Natural episode 1 has been subbed by HikariNoKiseki(I did start out with their Aria subs but then they stopped so I might just wait until CrystalNova get their version out before getting it) and also a.f.k. have subbed Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu(Suzumiya Haruhi's depression/melancholy).

Saw Kiba episode 1, subbed by orz if you're interested. Nothing much to say really, average episode overall but it's really just setting the scene. Seems like it could be one of those average shounen action shows that I'll follow *cough* law of ueki *cough* although I suppose it's still too early to judge. The whole thing was a lot darker than I thought it would be. Nothing terribly wrong with the first episode so it's passed my initial test. I'll see how it goes for the next couple of episodes.

Also thought I'd mention some other shows that seem to be getting a bit of a buzz around them. Simoun is one, easy way to describe it is Cluster edge(which I stopped watching after 6 episodes tried to like it but just wasn't for me) with females and from initial impressions I've read it doesn't suck.

Another one is Suzumiya Haruhi's depression, an anime adaptation by Kyoto Animation(Air TV, FMP:Fumoffu and Second Raid) of a manga/novel. Initial reports suggest that the first episode was surprisingly good. I'm downloading it as I type this, will post later when I've seen it.

Sorry if this has been answered already, but what's happened to the HDTV Ergo Proxy stuff? I've been watching this series and really enjoying it so far, but eps 4 and 5 have yet to appear in HDTV format - were these only broadcast in SD? No biggie, I've still been watching it, just kinda miss that 720p lovelyness!

3 more weeks until Naruto gets decent again - can't wait.

The new Bleach themes are 'alright'. I reckon they're the weakest yet though, though I was fond of both D-technolife and that HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR track.
For some reason, 'My Pace' got etched into my head though, sad to see it change.

The group that got the furthest with the HD releases, Yoroshiku, have put them on hold according to their IRC channel. Shinsen-subs and Anime-Kraze are AFAIK still doing them but they're only on episode 2 at the moment with their HD releases.

So I've also seen two more new shows from this season. The first one was Soul Link, which is based on a H-game from the same company that made the Shuffle H-game(Navel is their name incidentally). First episode was nothing to shout about, pretty much every fanservice cliche in the book is thrown out in the first episode. There's the "accidentally bumping into a girl to knock her on the floor in such a way as to reveal what panties she's got on", the "bump into the large breasted woman and cop a feel", "coincidental meeting in the shower whilst naked" and even that little kid from Shuffle is in there, the one who lifts up girls' skirts. Don't really know where the plot is going but I got a similar sort of vibe from this as I did with Kagihime. That said in the preview it looked like things were about to get more serious. I'm not sure if I'll check it out though. Will see what others say before going for it.

The second was so much better. Suzumiya Haruhi No Yuutsu(The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi). One of the best and funniest first episodes I've seen, I'm not entirely sure if the rest of the series is going to live up to it but I'll definitely check it out. So many brilliant bits throughout the episode but one of my favourite things has to be the narration.

Their indie movie is so bad, that it's good. Loads of little details that you'll notice if you pay attention. Such as the little inconsistencies in between shots, the cat struggling to hang onto the witch who has to prop it up at times, actors bursting with laughter in important scenes, the witch who has apparently left via the window still has her hat pointing out in full view. The ridiculous plot, fanservice scenes such as the one where she seems to be constantly running for no other reason then for the jiggling of her boobs etc, the special effects, actors blatantly reading their lines of a cue card and so on. Oh and if you didn't realize it, the majority of the episode was the movie that they made which is why the visual quality looks poor(it's for authenticity, no fault of the subbers or anime producers)

. As far as I know that's the first time something like that has been done in an anime, at least for pretty much an entire episode.

First episode was subbed by a.f.k. who did a great job as ever, certainly nothing to complain about. I'd say it rivals Aria for one of the surprise hits of any particular season and rivals Kyou No Go No Ni and other comedy animes for pure laughs. Highly recommended that you guys check out the first episode at the least. The only bad thing and this is nitpicking really is that it at the end of that episode I still had no idea what the story is behind this anime if there even is one.

School Rumble S2, ep1 - I don't think i stopped laughing until it ended (after that crappy samurai bit), the YakumoXHarima stuff it top comedy and so is the Eri stuff!! I think SR just made it into my top3 all time.

One Piece ep182, i don't usually talk about the anime being KF is miles behind the current manga arc but the quailty of animation was up there with the movies/ovas for One Piece and i really hope it stays like this for the next couple of episodes as the Luffy vs Enel fight pans out. Had a big ****ing grin on my face at the end of the episode when they exchange 1st blows, and Enel's look after giving 100,000,000 volt attack is class. Also Conis bazooka display was pretty cool, loved the poses

Agreed about School Rumble second season ep1, although I didn't think the samurai bit was that bad just not as good as the stuff that came after. A big improvement on the OVAs and like you said so many LOL moments.

Looks like some new girls are getting introduced as well, judging by that intelligence club which sort of reminded me of the club from speed grapher, not sure if it was a pisstake of that or not but the masks looked familiar. Loved the bit at the end with what looks like cleavage and ends up being a pic of Harima getting changed

. Glad that other class made an appearance as well. Can't wait for episode 2. Personally School Rumble has been in my top 5 all the time since I first finished watching most of the first season.

Also saw some more new anime. Firstly Ohran High School Host club which is an anime produced by Bones(FMA, Eureka 7) subbed by Lunar. It's basically a club of pretty boys, who if I'm not mistaken are gay to boot(though there could be a boy girl relationship developing, not sure yet), that keep girls company for money. Basically boils down to having tea parties with most of them. It's set in a rich private school so pretty much all of them are snobs. A poor student who goes to the school(got in by virtue of their intelligence) accidentally breaks a vase in their club room, and so they make that student work for them to pay off the debt. First episode had some good comedy scenes don't want to say too much since it'll spoil it and overall was pretty entertaining to watch. So for the time being I'll keep following it, as long as it doesn't get too much into the whole Shonen Ai thing which wasn't so bad in the first episode. Definitely worth checking out the first episode. Only School Rumble and Suzumiya Haruhi were funnier for me, of the new anime I've seen so far.

Also saw NANA. Seems to be a slice of life/romance anime. The first episode sets the scene for how the two Nanas meet and how they end up living together in Tokyo. Character designs are similar to Paradise Kiss and overall it has a similar sort of feel to it i.e. more realistic take on romance. Another very good first episode had some funny moments in it. All the characters seem pretty likeable and I like the OP and EDs to this(the OP moreso) which is a bonus. A bit early to judge but I'd say if you liked Paradise Kiss then you'll enjoy this. If you didn't like Paradise Kiss then I'd say give it a shot anyway as the first episode was pretty good. Subbed by Live-Evil, nothing to complain about.

Still got to catch up with more recent stuff life Fate Stay and Eureka7 plus the other new shows that have been subbed, Air Gear and Zegapain.

edit: Just seen Fate Stay Night ep 14 . What can I say best episode of the series so far IMO. Archer Identity spoilers ahead

I already had it spoilt for me but it seems easy to work out from looking at stuff in the episode that Archer is Shirou, quite a surprise when I first had it spoilt for me. Looking back on certain episodes as well certain scenes make more sense, such as the bit where he confronts Emiya about his ideals and seems to know an awful lot about him. Absolutely awesome fight between Berserker and Archer. Engrish spoken by Archer was a bit dodgy but that's comparing his badass normal voice to the weird english sentences. Shame Archer had to die as he was one of my favourite servants, everything from his design to his VA was perfect I thought. Really gave off the air of being a badass, which he ended up showing. I mean I might not have understood it right but he had Berserker "killed" 5 times before Berserker finally finished him off I think. Still what a way to go. As someone on another forum said that was a cool and classy death.

I just wonder what's going to happen to Rin now, she seems masterless and from the next episode it seems she wants to get in bed with Saber . Also I wonder how the hell are they going to take down Berserker? They(Emiya and the others) might have to kill of Ilya and convince Berserker to join them, though somehow I don't see righteous Emiya doing that.

Judging from Archer's identity I'm not even going to try and guess some of the others unless they give concrete clues. I didn't think you could have future versions of current masters as Servants.

I'd expect the art to be the same since they're done by the same Manga artist.

                        FSN ep14 - im confused now after reading that spoiler;

Shirou = Emiya right? if not who Shirou and why am i not paying attention , good fight though. Do we really expect that to be the last of Archer, i would have thought he'd have bigger role to play than hurting Berserker.

                        New Naruto/Bleach = teh Scuk!11!!

Soul Link ep1, hmmm... art is terrible and that lara croft wannabe ><.... i'm gonna give a couple eps to see how it pans out cos i have no idea what to expect froma space station drama/comedy thing(outside of the ace PlantES).

                          FSN 14 -

Yeah sorry. Emiya Shirou is his full name. I have an annoying habit of referring to the same character by either their first or last name in the same bit of text. So in other words Archer is a future version of the main guy, Saber's master. The one we all love to hate(or at least I hope that's the case )

Well going by everyone else's reaction that is the end of Archer. Unless they have some sort of spell that can revive dead servants/masters for the current round of the holy grail war. Wouldn't mind seeing him come back though. Once thing it does suggest is that some point down the line Shirou does actually grow up and learn that he was stupid when he was younger.

You'll have to keep me up to speed on Soul Link as I've decided not to watch anymore unless I hear something good about future episodes. It is only 13 episodes I hear which is pretty tempting but there's just too much other new stuff to check out and the majority of it is turning out to be pretty good. Utawarerumono for example has just finished downloading. So I've got quite a few new shows to check out. Just glad that some of the older series' are being finished(or close to finishing) such as Solty Rei, Black Cat and Mai Otome, frees up a bit of time for some new shows. Just wish Shinsen would get a move on and finish of Noein, Da Capo SS and Gun X Sword.

edit: LOL just as I typed that out Shinsen released the last episode of Da Capo.

disgaea episode 1 is out. but the animeu fansub is incredibly bad though.

seems like a lot of fantasy stuff from the new shows i've watched so far.
soul link was awfull, so i'm not sure what to do about that one. shuffle got really good in its later half, and this series is quite short so i might stick with it.
happy seven. not sure if this is especially a new show or just something people started subbing recently. either way, i couldnt even watch 5 minutes of it...terrible stuff.
Utawarerumono was quite nice i thought. a bit of mystery in there, and some cute characters is nice too.
Kiba i think is the best of the new ones ive watched, first episode was cool...some nice art and designs, and i do like the idea of the two worlds crossing over too. just downloading the second one now.
disgaea seemed ok to me too, although i havent played the games. but again another fantasy setting, not sure i can cope with that many.
Nana....live evils version doesnt run well on my ageing computer, so hopefully somebody else will do it soon as i cant be bothered converting files myself which takes ages. but the few snippets i saw looked nice, and i'm sure it'll be great if paradise kiss is anything to go by.

Kiba ep2 was better than the first, some half decent action and I do like some of the music, the ED's quite catchy if a little engrishy. The spirits seem rather like pokemon and I'm guessing Zed's spirit (or what seems to be his spirit) will have something special about it/be really powerful/be really rare which'll make him a target for others. So far still feels like an average shounen show(not that that's a bad thing) but I'll keep up with it for the time being, hopefully they'll add something unique to the mix.

Utawarerumono ep1 on the other hand I preferred over what I've seen of Kiba. It's a sort of fantasy feudal japan setting with people with tails and ears. It's sort of similar to the other world in Kiba as Fuddle mentioned. Starts off like a typical JRPG with a main character afflicted with memory loss and a mask he can't take off for some reason. It's based on an H-game and some of the screenshots I've seen of it show what looks like grid-based SRPG gameplay, so I guess that kind of explains the RPG vibes the first episode gives off IMO. Slow paced first episode which again is just setting the scene but next episode looks like it will have more action. There were some nice scenes in the first episode and most of the characters seem pretty likeable. Given that most H-game to anime adaptations haven't let me down yet and that I enjoyed the first episode, I'll be sticking with this one.

Air Gear - pretty much as I described it earlier, action show with fanservice. I'll be honest I don't have much interest in extreme sports or anything of the sort but I did like the first episode. I'll check a few more episodes before making a final decision.
