Snow? What is snow? I have forgotten what it looks like though I doubt I would miss it as it's great for a day but then turns to ice or muddy slush. No thank you.

    Great pics GT and PeteJ.

EDIT: Let me caveat that by saying I'm only viewing on my ****ty work monitor at the moment though.

        Nice shots there GT too.

Does anyone know an easy quick way to make a website that links to your flickr photos? I've seen it done before, like this one: http://www.davidmmcneil.com/ and I'll email that guy as he's one of my contacts to ask how. I may well need a photography website VERY soon

We have new smilies too, hooray an embarrassed one

Mr Ginger tosser, that pic of the underground looks like it belongs in silent hill! I like it! lol! Well done, the black and white enhances the sark and creepy feel.

I like that one myself. Cold and damp it was as well.

              Anyway more snow today

I think there's something wrong with your camera as the building are pointing inwards

Inspired by that noobish 400D post!

                Anyway, great pic.

Went to Meiji shrine today and, being a Sunday, there were a lot of weddings.

I like this one as you really can feel the moment. The eyes of the world were on them.

                      A fish eyed train! Lovely.

Yes, I like the wedding pics but the one with them looking on to the crowd has damned purple fringing on her dress. I should've stuck it on P but forgot as it was a spur of the moment thing so shot it at f/1.8. Combined with high contrast and boom..... I had a pic of a priest ruined by the same thing as his hat came out sparkly purple. Still, it was my fault in the end. You shoot and learn I suppose.

I have something of a lens quandary. After shooting at the shrine on the weekend, I have realised just how frustrating a lack of range can be. My 17-40 just isn't long enough to capture those 'moments' and changing over to my 85 mm prime takes time, so with that said I have decided to buy a new lens.

I am seriously thinking about adding a 24-105 L to my 30D line up. My reasoning is that it will cover normal to medium on a 1.6 body and has a constant f/4 and IS as well. I love primes and was thinking about adding a 35 L to my collection but my head says that a general walkaround is a better bet in the long run considering that I could find a use for the 24-105 on a future FF body as well.

                        Confused...

It is indeed a fine lens, the follow pictures were taken at .4" f/4 at 105mm with IS turned on for the first one. I tried to keep it steady for the rest.

I dont use IS all the time, but its quite handy that its there. It does vignette a little on the 5D, but thats easy to correct in Adobe Camera Raw.

                            Impressive stuff, GT.

Anyway, I went to a shop today to have play and, fook me, the IS is impressive. I didn't know what to expect but when you flick the switch and the centre focus point suddenly stops swaying around, well, colour me impressed. It seems so useful you wonder why the 24-70 doesn't have it as the price increase would be outweighed by its usefulness. I have a feeling that lens such as the 24-105 would find itself glued to my camera most of the time.

The only slight downer I suppose is f/4 but if you want faster than that you should be using primes which I have anyway so...... It's a no brainer really.

Also, I am wary of buying lenses for the 30D as I know that I may go FF in the future so don't want to cripple my lens selection by choosing lenses based on my 1.6 crop body now that I may find no use for later. This is why I refuse to buy an EF-S lens as I am convinced that the price of FF bodies will fall in time.

Not much help to you in Japan but the 5D has dropped suddenly by about £100 to £1499 http://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/prod2.html
