Apparently it's cheaper in the manufacturing process to fit electric windows rather than wind-ups, however (certainly in the UK) we pay a premium for them.

I think the same applies to manual vs automatic transmission as well doesn't it? Yet auto regularly costs several thousand more. Madness.

Unlikely. The components requried for an auto box compared to a manual are huge.

Wether that difference is 2 grand is up for debate, but there is little doubt about which is cheaper to manufacture.

It's a bit like the power steering and non power steering price differences.

Yeah, you're right. Ignore me. I am getting my wires crossed from an (American) Autoblog podcast where they were obviously talking about things the opposite way to us (regards to auto/manual)

I am sure Pistonheads had a thread about the most ludicrous options, stuff like 20,000 GBP ceramic brakes for a Bentley. And that rip off star roof thingy in a Rolls, or possibly a Maybach

The case does but I'm not sure about the actual tools. I've never taken them out of the case. The crazy thing is that the jack was included with the car but the tools weren't.

I got a jack, wheel removal tools and an inflation device with my car. I hope I never have to use them though.

Ah, but did you get the cool flare and red triangle

It really is a disgrace the way car companies charge you for stuff that should be standard. I have a feeling they do this to make cash back on the actual car. These days dealers are always having to slash the price to get a sale. So maybe ripping you off for accessories is a way of making a little money back?

Actually, Subaru aren't too bad come to think of it. They treat me like a valued customer every time I go there even if it's only for a oil change. Two weeks ago some tw*t rear ended my car while I was waiting at the lights. So off to the Subaru body shop it went to get the back bumper repaired. A week later after driving around in the most basic ****ty impreza I've ever seen I get my car back. The guy who hit me insurance paid for it all but I got a brand new back bumper, the whopping big gash on the passenger skirt repaired (did that hitting a rock while power sliding) so well it looks new and all little scratches and chips from stones and so on repaired. The car looks brand new! They even cleaned the carpets

I don't know if all car companies are like that in Japan but I sure as hell know they aren't in the UK.

I got the flare but not the triangle.

Didn't the police blame you at all? I heard that, here, they will always try to spread the blame somewhat, you know, to help with the social harmony so you will be given a 20% blame rating by your insurers. I was even told that rear enders are not always the fault of the guy behind, such is the twisted logic.

Nope, not at all. I was so pissed off that I think the police sort of understood it was 100% the other guys fault without me saying a word. After all I was standing still at the traffic lights when the tit smacked in to the back of me. There was nothing I could have done to cause the accident.

Oh, guess what the guy was driving when he hit me? Yep, you guessed it, a bloody stupid mini van! God, how I hate those things and the people who drive them. They're a million times worse than taxi drivers. Still, I'm actually glad it all happened now because of the work Subaru did on the car.

Yeah, that crazy twisted logic does exist I'm afraid. Also if some nut case throws him or herself in front of you with no possible time for you to stop, that's also your fault. Talk about messed up. The Japanese really do have some illogical rules and ideas that I just can't find any logic behind most of the time.
