Apparently it's cheaper in the manufacturing process to fit electric windows rather than wind-ups, however (certainly in the UK) we pay a premium for them.

It really is a disgrace the way car companies charge you for stuff that should be standard. I have a feeling they do this to make cash back on the actual car. These days dealers are always having to slash the price to get a sale. So maybe ripping you off for accessories is a way of making a little money back?
Actually, Subaru aren't too bad come to think of it. They treat me like a valued customer every time I go there even if it's only for a oil change. Two weeks ago some tw*t rear ended my car while I was waiting at the lights. So off to the Subaru body shop it went to get the back bumper repaired. A week later after driving around in the most basic ****ty impreza I've ever seen I get my car back. The guy who hit me insurance paid for it all but I got a brand new back bumper, the whopping big gash on the passenger skirt repaired (did that hitting a rock while power sliding) so well it looks new and all little scratches and chips from stones and so on repaired. The car looks brand new! They even cleaned the carpets
I don't know if all car companies are like that in Japan but I sure as hell know they aren't in the UK.

I got the flare but not the triangle.
Didn't the police blame you at all? I heard that, here, they will always try to spread the blame somewhat, you know, to help with the social harmony so you will be given a 20% blame rating by your insurers. I was even told that rear enders are not always the fault of the guy behind, such is the twisted logic.

Oh, guess what the guy was driving when he hit me? Yep, you guessed it, a bloody stupid mini van! God, how I hate those things and the people who drive them. They're a million times worse than taxi drivers. Still, I'm actually glad it all happened now because of the work Subaru did on the car.
