Wouldn't really describe any team as being 'on cracking form' this season. Hasn't been the best of seasons for quality football. Half the league now plays the top teams with no intention of winning, just sticking 10 men in the box and hoping for a lucky break.

But of course the press are going on about Man U's wonderful displays of skill in their second half 1-0 victories that are totally unlike the dull boring 1-0s that other teams grinded out to win the league.

I meant cracking form picking up points wise - I didn't really make that clear.

your unspecific grammar will be the death of us all one day!

"would you kindly push that button"
        "ok"
"wait... what did you do? I only wanted you to push it to one side to clear the desk! Why did yo...."
        *BOOM*

And now, presenting the thoughts of a bitter Chelsea fan.........

Second half was ****ing desperate stuff. To be expected really, I think that's the 5th time I've seen us play in Middlesbrough and we've only scored 1 goal in all that time, proper bogey ground for us. Strange, because the first 25 minutes or so were pretty promising...had Torres been on the end of chances instead of El Zhar & Kuyt things might have been different...ah well.

Sad to see the players look like they were throwing in the towel...even sadder to see a pretty hefty chunk of our support leave early, never been at a game when so many have left before the 80th minute.

I think it's just so galling that we have chucked it away the 'stupid' way. I mean, we've done the hard part this season, beaten Chelsea twice, came from behind to beat Man Utd, won a fair few tricky away games where we otherwise would have drawn/lost. But it was our games at Anfield against Hull, Stoke, Portsmouth, Man City, West Ham etc where we just couldn't get the win, and it has cost us the title. Just converting those 5 games, which we normally would, and we'd be at the top.

Good performance last night, pretty much dominated and most importantly we actually took our chances. Thought Ngog played well - bit nervy at first, but looked lively and kept his composure for the goal.

Looking forward to the Man Utd game now - we're a long way behind, but if we can get a win, you just never know...

Thought Benayoun was excellent in parts again, got to have him playing every week until the end of the season he's really stepped up his game recently. Mascherano looks a pretty decent full back - would be a shame if the rumours as to why he was playing there turned out to be true though.

Only downer of the night was the booing of Lucas when he came on from certain knob-heads in the crowd, really quite embarrassing. If you don't want to actively support him, then fair enough I guess, but booing him is just retarded. Where did these ****ing sheep come from?

Yeah, I was a bit shocked by the boo's...not the sort of attitude you associate with Liverpool fans (if those particular people can be called 'fans').

Benayoun was great, but then he was against Madrid too (and on a high after scoring) yet was still dropped for the Boro game...

What are the rumours about Mascherano?

Rumour is that Carragher was set to play at right back before the Boro game but had a bust up with Pellegrino/Rafa in training when he was told and basically refused to play there, hence Skrtel having to do it at Boro (and do it badly) and then Mascherano given a go yesterday.

Rafa's interviews after both games seem to confirm this (or something similar) in a round about way.

Andy Gray mentioned it last night - I thought he was joking though!

I'm very impressed by the newest article by Paul Tompkins on the Liverpool site. I was shocked at Jamie Redknapp's comments last night about the spending and also about the right back situation currently. As Tompkins correctly states Liverpool have 3 injured right backs in the first team squad.

He then goes on to show there are a number of teams who have spent more than Liverpool net. Tottenham, Chelsea, United and Man City have all spent more.

Read it, tis very good - http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drill...90304-1429.htm

Jamie Redknapp is increasingly annoying me with his laughable statements about Liverpool and especially Benitez. At least he has been disproved again, twice.

As for last night, apart from the early scare I was very happy with the performance. Sunderland had nothing to offer and Liverpool plugged away. Against teams that sit back I think Gerrard is best served as a central midfielder running in from deep positions. It helps create space because defences are so uncertain when Gerrard is allowed to roam that bit deeper.

The Transfer League lists all players and their transfer fees for English premier league and Championship football clubs. Italso has information on squad costs per season, club payments to Agents and Premier league club finances.

That's what Redknapp was on about. That site shows net spend, Tomkins didn't.

Tomkins bent the stats and way it was worked out until it fitted his agenda. He doesn't include full squads, gets amounts wrong and for some reason thinks Dong is a Utd player. he isn't, and hasn't been for months.
