The rumble is perfectly implemented. If you drive in deeper groves, the rumble gets stronger.

The graphics are good, if not a bit bland. It lacks this flashy oomph that SR2, a true arcade game, has. The music is also bland, its lacking compared to the prequels. Its just not the Arcade presentation we got used to. SR2 arcade had darker music, louder voices, cool car select menu's..

Sega didn't sell its soul to the stupid shiny Sepia style a lot of games use. Thats a plus.

60fps in racegames is a plus btw. The best SR2 experience next to the Arcade was the Japanese DC version on the Desert stage in time attack mode. The JP version was 60fps like the coin-op, but had lots and lots of slowdown, except for the desert stage when being alone on the track.

This thread is getting completely out of hand.

The demo takes me right back, to the days playing sega rally 1+2 in th arcade aswell as pc. Absolutly lovedthe demo, even though the computer was kicking my arse.

Its great to finally play a new pretty sega rally, ive been getting tired of all the ridge racers and what not. Sega Rally brings the loose and slick arcadey controls and excellent gameplay right back into next gen and im mega happy.

Its taken them nearly 10 years for a proper successor to sega rally 2 and im happy this demo makes up for the one people forgot about on the ps2.

          b) devs will actually take notice of this forum and do something about it (completely and utterly unlikely)

In fact, all your talk about FPS does is get more and more people to say that they don't give a toss. If I were a developer, all I'd see would be a forum where the vast majority couldn't really care amongst a tiny percentage who can't stop blathering on about it and come across as obsessive nerds.

TBH the very best thing you could do to help your 60fps cause is to STFU.
          Chill out buddy.

I have a little bit of a ramble about framerates now and then, and you get all hostile.

I decided quite a while back to stick mostly to the retro-section. I simply can't stand hostility; especially when some people are acting like I've offended their Mother, when I'm just talking about something so inoffensive.

Well, back to the game. The framerate is ok. It doesn't feel silky, and the movement betrays its lack of 60fps. It's better than DIRT though.

Visuallly it's nice. Not very inspired, or exciting in any way, but at least the dev tried.

Where is the Sega styling and details though? Apart from a few Sega banners, it could be a WRC title. In fact it does look a lot like that series( maybe some of the team worked on that? )

It's a western game trying to be Japanese, but it's not easy to emulate imagination and flair, and this title makes that very apparent.

How can I as a big Sega fan, not wish that the original Sega Rally team had been let loose on the 360. That's how I feel as I play this new version.

It's not terrible in any way. That is the problem. It's always worse to be in a situation where you don't hate or love a game. I simply expect games that I want to commit to, to be something extra special, and this title is far from special.

It's a well-made game, that sadly hasn't been blessed with much flair, and ultimately makes we wonder " Why should I bother with it? "

As a big Sega fan, I was hoping that the company had made a good move with this new studio, even though I've had doubts, but now, it seems that there really isn't reason to celebrate.

Surely, most gamers don't want to spend £35-40, and allocate time to something that isn't brilliant?

          For me, reasonable isn't enough.

Don't suck-up bud. Those guys can talk about that stuff for ever, and I don't care. I won't call them names etc... I don't sit on a high-horse telling people what to talk about, and I have no desires to.

It's easy to avoid peoples posts, not take an interest, and simply "Move on! "

Tried this last night and was impressed, looked good, played well. Bit too arcadey (handling wise) for my liking personally, but was exactly what I was expecting it to be

I think some people criticizing the look of the game are maybe forgetting what the original looked like. It wasn't over the top bright colours and funny details like Daytona or Outrun but rather quite realistic.

The menus are really bland though. They feel like something that have been done in a single day.

This could run at 120fps and it would still be a fairly lame simple arcade racer. Its like some PC race you got free with a gfx card 4 years ago.

Had a play last night and I doubt I'll be buying.

It's fun enough, and proves fairly addictive when the handling clicks, but for me it lacks a certain weightiness and solidity for a Sega driving game, and I miss the subtleties of the original's handling.

Natty enough arcade rally game (like Rallisport Challenge) but not 100% deserving of the Sega Rally name.

I think people might be remembering the original with rose tinted spectacles here.

Granted in its day it was pretty much untouchable, but that was nearly 13 years ago!

This definitley maintains the 'spirit' of the original arcade.

Definitely. I play the Saturn maybe few times a year and it's a fun ride for nostalgia's sake. I also bough Sega Rally 2006 (which is.... you know ) but it also had the arcade perfect version of the original. I played the original for a few evenings with a Logitech wheel. It was fun but still mostly for the nostalgia.

I'd love to get a Sega Rally arcade machine. They still cost something like 2000 euros here.

I've had another go at this.

It really is lovely and unlike any other racer out there. I love the look and feel as it's classic Sega and such a quick and thrilling experiance.

Fair point. Maybe there is an element of that. I just wanted it to give me that instant feeling of recognition like Outrun 2 did/does.

But I accept that things move on, and maybe I'd be better judging it on its own merits.

Its a definete purchase for me, i think its fantastic. Although it will have to wait for awhile especially when halo is taking a big dent out of my pocket.

Im not looking at it with rose tinted specs whoever said that, as i still play the original pc version now.

I know - it's a strange phenomenon this where people want a carbon copy of a now very old game which probably doesn't look *quite* as good as what they remember.

I'm afraid to see the Daytona arcade machine running again as I got a bit of a shock last time
