Capcom can be a bit cheap with the old boss fights but giving them a one hit kill (the boulder) that you can't stop is just lame in the extreme. I don't mind a challenge but play fair for crying out loud!
The problem for me was worrying about those jackass majini's at the sides and some of the super quick super-human-reactions-required QTE's. I could dodge a few but usually even two slip ups causes death. Plus it seemed if I was holding X at th time (to shoot) then the QTE dissapeared within a second due to thinking the X i was holding at the time was pressed as a reaction to the QTE...

Oh don't get me started on the guy on the left who keeps throwing the molotov's
I didn't know you could destroy the boulder, I was beginning to think it was indestructible. I've tried everything at that point - shooting his head, shooting his arms, shooting the boulder. I could get it to crack by the time it hit the jeep but that was it.
At least you've confirmed that it's destructible, which probably means I wasn't on it quick enough whenever he decided to pick it up.

Just have to keep at him I guess but I'm finding it a real sticking point.

when i played him on Pro i didnt bother abou the crossbow and molotov guys
the damage they do isnt really that much compared to missing one of the QTE's
if i had stunned the El giganti - i shot the others, but generally left them aloneLast edited by buster_broon; 17-04-2009, 10:53.

Sorry, couldn't resist.
however, there at least better examples of Capcom script writing, namely the original Resident Evil, RE 4 and Dead Rising for instance. Wesker's ultimate goal to become a god by destroying humanity by the help of a biological weapon and Chris' predictable run against it seems like a very rubbish effort to bring weight to a poor and very thin plot without any tension and surprise.

I've been playing this co-op over the weekend with a friend. All I can say is I'm glad it wasn't me that wasted £30 on this. It's not a bad game, I suppose but it's not a good one either.
My overall impression is that the game feels retrogressive. Resi as a series has always proudly worn its anachronisms on its sleeve as a badge of honour, its fiercest apologists defending its archaisms to the hilt and clinging to them with irrational tenacity, but this game is ridiculous in that regard. It almost feels like a step backfrom Resi 4, the only game in the series to get it right (imo).
Resi 4's controls were decent, but in 5, it almost feels as though they've been made cumbersome on purpose. Constantly having to stop to adjust the camera/running direction, having to fiddle about with a stupid menu in the midst of a battle (and one that defaults to 'equip' even for health items, which means you end up accidentally equipping herbs instead of using them at critical moments)... and don't get me started on that stupid inventory grid. Why bring bring that back?? I'm surprised they didn't go all out and include the door opening loading screens again to be really retro. After all, it "heightens the tension", right?
If an HD spit and polish is the only thing Capcom can bring to the series in 2009 then the series really is more dead than the zombies that inhabit its world.

The quality of the game took a serious dive when I entered
the research facility
. The introduction of new enemies is handled in an almost intentionally clumsy way and it really grates with me when they're just chucked into a corridor unlike resi 4's sublime regens.
I'm looking forward to getting it all finished to be honest as it's definitely dragging now.

I wouldn't know about that Buster as I have the PS3 version of Resident Evil 5.
Since you're one of the few to ask; just how much harder is the professional difficulty?
I managed to S rank every single Veteran level with considerable ease yesterday evening and I only need one more trophy - complete the game on Professional mode - to get the elusive platinum trophy.
The talk of how punishing the giant troll on chapter 2-3 is worrying me as I found it quite tricky on Veteran! Although I do have the unlimited rocket launcher as well as a fully upgraded (as well as unlimited ammo) magnums - all three of them.

its just some of the levels can cause a headache since Professional mode is 1 hit and your dead, some levels like 2-3 and 3-3 you can take a couple of minor hits before you die
so the fight with
Jill
for example, is apparently a bugger
i dont think i will complete the full game on Professional as some fights i can never do without at least getting hit once
my previous question has been answered by a fellow forumite, guess it proves i havent been using a guide
