RAM cards for data save: 128K EEprom

They might have released a 1MB official one too I guess, but still, it makes no difference, because even 1000 of those = less than 1GB.

You can get it from torrents but I'm not bothering until Sony release another official PS3 bricker.

Surprised it's taking them so long. Surely they're working round the clock on it.

            You will notice I said 1Mb...not 1MB.

I was about to mention that but so many people confused 1Mb with 1MB its hardly worth mentioning anymore, wasn't there a 1MB card too later on? or am I being confused, regardless. 320GB of saves.. hah. haha

edit: I just checked your post.. and lol, you said "8Mb" for a PS2 memory card, its not, its 8MB for the official one

Would have thought so, have a bit of sympathy with them to be honest.

Perhaps they need to get Dark Alex on board

Still not up. Have to assume by this point they don't actually know what's causing the conflict.

Might be worth keeping an eye on http://blog.us.playstation.com/tag/firmware/ for news of the firmware.

If people on 2.36 still want to update (at their very own risk)(I'd suggest backing up first too), you can get the 2.40 binary image on various sites to download.

Meant to say, I got a 160gb hardrive to replace the fecked official 40gb one and when everything rebooted I had 2.4 installed?

A bit strange that it's now running smoothly with my new HD, yet it corrupted my old one when the installation had finished.

No problems wit 2.4, although I'm looking forward to 2.41 just to be on the safe side

2.4 is installed to flash memory in your ps3, not the hard disk. I guess the clean hard disk enabled it to boot up correctly.

Sony's big 2.40 update for the PS3 has been down since the middle of last week, following some issues a few users had while trying to install the firmware. When, then, can we expect a fix? Around the same time this week, if Sony's customer support are to be believed. They say that firmware 2.41 - which will fix the…

2.41 coming this week if thats anything to go by.

2.41 is out, I am installing it to my UK PAL PS3 60GB

                              EDIT:

                              Installed and working fine

I looked at the JPN store at about 7.15 this morning and wasn't prompted for an update (am on 2.40 OK), guess it'll update next time I log on. Hopefully this might mean a trophy patch for Pain before the week is out.
