Hah only since this afternoon, must be my hormones playing up. I don't know why I was denying myself.

Been playing the new Bat For Lashes album a fair bit. Very Kate Bush in places...

It Bites - The Big Lad In The Windmill. Fusiony, synthy 80s pop. Never heard any of their stuff before but it was only 99p (well, 74p with 25% off) in the local Zavvi/Head. It's alright, very Duran Duran-y in parts.

That and J-Zone's 'A Job Ain't Nuthin' But Work' (always brilliant).

Mostly listened to the new Neil Young album, Fork In The Road. It's good, but not great. Some of the lyrics are poor, and thats being kind, but the man has a way with the guitar that makes him worth a listen at all times. The first song on the album is a real stinker though.

Bit too much for my liking too. Good album but really the only ones worth regular plays are Pearl's Dream & Daniel, unless you do it start to finnish! Daniel also felt a bit Fleetwood!

Pearls Dream is total badass mind. In a big sky/Cloudbursting way aha.

I've been listening to Bat for Lashe's two suns too. Pretty good album, even though half way it kind of loses itself. The best tracks are the first four, then track seven, "Pearl's dream". The others are ok, but lack something. I see where you're coming from Baseley09, with the Fleetwood Mac feeling. I think it's the tempo. The album on a whole, reminds me of loads of other music...

The previous album, Fur and Gold, is ok. Very similar style, but felt more Bjork, than Kate bush, with it feeling at little slower ? It has about the same amount of decent tunes on there. Two good songs are, the first and the forth one. The forth track, "What's a girl to do ?", always reminds me of the Ronettes, "Be my Baby" at the start...

At the moment, i'm listening to Beirut's "Gulag Orkestar" and Yeah Yeah Yeahs "It's Blitz". The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, seemed to have replaced their guitars and drums for synths. The album feels very dance-like. I guess a lot seems to be doing this now. Still good album...

Keeping up the Neil Young marathon, seeing as the sun is shining I thought I would listen to Harvest on the way home. Wilco's Summerteeth got me to work.

Been listening to the Crying Light, having been shamefully unaware of its release for a couple of months. The cover is absolutely hideous, probably the worst I've ever seen; the sight of Japanese people usually disgusts me, but this guy is a hundred years old and looks like a corpse. In drag. Seriously, stay away from that ****. The music on the album however is stunningly beautiful, as I expected from Antony and the Johnsons; better than their first effort, though perhaps not quite as good as their mercury prize winning I Am a Bird Now, though that would have been miraculous.

Thanks for the heads up on Bat for Lashes. Downloaded Two Suns off Amazon for less than a fiver last night. Never heard of her but I was in the mood for something mellow and summery and this seemed to fit the bill. Only had the chance to listen to it the once but I like what I've heard so far. Daniel, which does indeed sound like Rumours era Fleetwood Mac, and the last track with Scott Walker (I assume it's Scott Walker) are just lovely.

After reading the last few posts i'm going to download some Bat for Lashe's tunes from itunes tonight - am looking forward to giving those a listen...

At the moment i'm listening to a number of tracks, but ones of particular note are:

The Loneliness Of A Tower Crane Driver - Elbow
                              Station Approach - Elbow
                              Funeral - Band of Horses
Life Is a song - Patrick Park
                              Fallen Awake - Gary Jules
Just Before Dawn - Blow up Hollywood
                              Flume - Bon Iver
The Blower's Daughter - Damien Rice
                              Closer - Kings of Leon
                              Twilight - Elliot Smith

I would recommend each and everyone of these tunes to anyone and everyone who likes a bit of substance in their songs. Absolutely gorgeous each and every one of them. I'm also listening to my usual favourites from the likes of Tom McRae, Porcupine Tree amongst countless others (my music follows me everywhere...) but those above are pretty much constantly on repeat :-)

Anyone else got any good suggestions of quality hearthealt/singer-songwriter/vocal tunes? :-)
