Started playing this this morning. Up to chapter 14 after about 4 1/2 hours with the story progressing nicely. Think I've probably got about 3 hours left to go.
This game is stunning!
Graphically it's gorgeous; I've never seen jungle done so well (never been a PC gamer so Far Cry and Crysis have never entered my gaming vocabulary).
The controls are great, the voice acting is top notch, the cutscenes are fantastic (and as far as I can tell all realtime too...have [b]that/b] Heavenly Sword)
Looks like Naughty Dog have another killer franchise on their hands. I'm going to have to go and edit my post in "games that liveed up to hype and expectations this year" because this has shot right up my list!
This year has been soooooo good for new IP and there's loads more to come next year.

What they do is use the same models and environments but render them on a workstation and add another couple of filters. They fit in with the game perfectly when done well in that way.
Ah "in-engine" cut scenes. Naughty Dog must be better at it than Ninja Theory then as I haven't noticed any of the dodgy artifacting that plagued some of Heavenly Swords cut scenes.

Made my way up to Chapter 12 today and I'm loving every moment of this so far, truly a AAA title. The environments all look so lush and the water is incredible. It is one of those titles where you can just stand and look around in amazement at the sheer epicness of it, a bit like the harbour scene in Shenmue.
Naughty Dog have been making the right noises about a sequel and selfishly I'd rather they went back to this before they belt out a PS3 Jax and Daxter, simply because this is such a brilliant game.

Played through this now and absolutley loved it. Easily the best PS3 game out so far.
Found 30 of the treasures and I looked everywhere so they must be really hidden well.
Definatley getting a second playthrough but that is going to wait until I have a Dual Shock 3 controller
Definatley looks like the PS3 is finally starting to gather some pace with decent titles.
Roll on the inevitable sequel

I would say it took me about 8 hours in total but I was searching everywhere, this was on normal. I expect hard wil take longer and crushing longer still
I can now return to Ratchet and attempt to complete that before Time Crisis 4 arrives (that's if Movietyme actually get around to doing anything with my order)
