Spurs and Newcastle are just badly run clubs panic sacking managers on a regular basis. And although it does seem like Spurs sign 500 players a season, they have sold Keane, Berbatov and Carrick for big fees in recent seasons and they have a lesser wage bill than Liverpool.
As for City....well ?17m for Nigel de jong suggests the club is little more than a circus.
Good point about the Arsenal back four above.

Steven deserved the card for the dive - his diving is shameful - I would never say otherwise. Him and Rooney publicly saying they hate divers is incredibly embarassing. Also, he showed *some* dissent but the rules of the respect campaign has always given more rights to the captain. Nowhere near the levels that Rooney shows. I think that captains should be able to talk to the ref, that is why I never say anything about John Terry's rants.
Keane has been given PLENTY of chances. Game after game after game.
Thats not a chance, its lunacy when you consider how much the club paid for him.
I agree that Gerrard is a diver too, even if I dont agree with your vendetta against Wayne Rooney...Last edited by rmoxon; 02-02-2009, 11:45.

The whole Keane thing is a ****ing shambles, I feel sorry for Robbie and for Rafa if the things being reported are true.
Keane was obviously over the moon to come to Liverpool and it turns out that he wasn't really wanted by the coaching staff which must be terrible for him and Rafa see's the money he desperately wanted to spend elsewhere (Gareth Barry) being wasted on a player he doesn't really fancy a great deal.
Given the choice in August I admit I would've taken Keane over Barry, but you have to go with the managers choice, it's his job on the line if it goes tits up.
Saviola on loan would be a perfectly sensible move, although I would worry a little about his being so slight.

When a ?20m player doesn't even make the bench for one of your biggest games of the season you know there's something not quite right behind the scenes. If it's true that it was Parry rather than Rafa who signed him, then...One thing's for sure, they won't recoup ?20m for him, so yet more cash down the pan.
If he does go, I hope we've got a replacement striker lined up. If Torres gets injured we'd be left with Kuyt (gives 100% but you wouldn't want to rely on him banging in the goals in a run-in) Ngog (completely unproven and hasn't impressed in the Premier League this season, albeit as sub) and I suppose Babel could be employed as a striker. I know we've got Stevie who gets the goals and Benayoun, Riera etc could chip in, but not converting chances has really cost us already this season.
Torres' header yesterday showed the sort of class we've been lacking without him, and we need more players with it. Don't get me wrong, I think we've got a talented team that could win the title, but to challenge season after season we need more than just Stevie, Carra and Torres. You look at Man Utd with Rooney, Tevez, Berbatov, Ronaldo etc and it's not hard to see why they can scrape wins even when playing poorly - they have so many players that can produce a second of class even when they're not playing well.

Glad to see him on his way back, over 20 goals for two seasons running down here so hopefully he can pick up where he left off. I'm going to be very interested to see what happens when Defoe is fit though as one has always kept the other out of the team in the past.

Sure a price of £15m has been confirmed.
£5million divided by the 19 games he has taken part in, only cost us about £275,000 a game .. plus his salary. Ouch. Bet the Middle Eastern's can't wait to whip out their cheque books to invest in a club with those crazy profit making skillzLast edited by VR46; 02-02-2009, 15:25.
