Which game mechanics have made you go, "oh wow, that is most cool, sir"?

One mechanic that comes straight to mind, is the camo-meter in Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater.
You can slip into a more beneficial camo frock which matches your current surroundings.

Sunk about 3 hours into the PS5 version and am enjoying it immensely. I don't know if the gameplay will expand as the game progresses but so far it plays like an open world Dark Souls with a plethora of tweaks, refinements and revisions to the Souls series' tried and tested mechanics....

They said it couldn't happen...
